My sentiments exactly.

Even though they’re not my best lift, squats rule. I absolutely love them.

anyone who doesn’t hate squats isn’t putting enough on the bar:)

High rep Squats ( I hate squats and Dan John is no longer my friend)
30x95lbs… I did this with 135 the other day so this was no problem, but I am going to follow the program other than having to do inclines…

I just love that kind of hard work. I could watch it for hours!

You’ll never get an admission that they oversimplified a complex topic to dumb it down for non-Dr.s… Especially since most MDs bought in hook line and sinker.

However, research does not what most people think of as Cardio…
Steady state cardio only compares well to complete inactivity.

There’s a couple of types of cardio fitness:
Arterial and venous elasticity is one of the most important.
The rate of recovery from higher pulse to baseline.

I see you’re doing intervals, Awesome! They are strongly supported by research as improving the various cardio fitnesses… I too hate stationary cardio. However, I like riding bicycles outside. Hills are natures intervals!

I don’t know if I hate squats or not. I know I’m a big fan of the idea, but the actual practice… I guess I do kinda like them. I love deadlifts though.

Every time I see this log title I think of “Under the Table and Dreaming” (Dave Matthews Band), specifically the “Ants Marching” (which the people that log here are most definitely not) song.

May I join the newly minted “I Hate Squats” club? Please?
I wanna be a member too. Not only do I hate squats, I can’t squat for shit either!! Get me a prowler instead!!

Nice training OG. Im looking forward to your next 13 days too!

Such a way with words you have.

For me the pain of squats is a delicious pain. The pain of bench is a shameful pain. And the pain of DLs is usually an injurious pain.

When I was getting vedy vedy properly Ivy-League edumacated waaaayyy back in the day, I was taught that huge bald guys with tattooed arms don’t have massive arches in their bench, and aren’t this funny.

I really hate squats, how can I be down???

well I got my edumation in a Big 10 school, in Lit, Latin, and Philosophy. I break stereotypes…

wow, a title change to the log sure got things hopping in here(lol)…

This is a rest day according to the Dan John program so as much as it kills me, I am not going to do anything…well I did walk the dogs…just slugged down a protein shake…time to go to the salt mine.

P.S. hips a little sore…more fish oil needed.

Peace

…there are a few days were the session calls for squats 185x50…
Holy sheepshit… or goatshit?

I hate squats too. I do them, I hate them, I swear. Repeat.

Loving the log, Goat.

I do not hate squats. I would however hate 50x185…

deadlifts… an injurous kind of pain… yes. oh yes. dammit.

Well today is what Dan calls a 'refresher" day//10-20 min of light movement ( your choice)

Spent extra time foam/mob/stretch…

speed deads rep every 15 sec, 20x135

BBcurls ( just bar) 3x12

Neutral grip chins 20 total

back ext thingy more for a stretch than any work…a bunch

I added a protein shake ( casein) before bed to see if that helps with AM energy. I did wake up somewhat more alive but that could be ANYTHING. It was probably knowing I didn’t have to do 30 rep squats today!! I have added a fiber supp to my diet as well, No doubt I don’t get enough fiber.

tomorrow workout features not 1 but 2 sets of 30 rep squats…I am just so so lucky!! did I ever mention I hate squats?

Thanks to all for dropping in with the commentary…

Peace

Looking forward to hearing about these. Yikes! 30 rep sets?

I’ve done 20 rep squats before and they are nasty, so yours will be 1.5 x nasty.

A test of strength, cardio and willpower all rolled in to one. You are welcome to them.

Good luck.

Brett- I am one tired goat!

Oh man, it is bad idea to stop after work and throw down a few beers with a friend ( although my excuse is unfortunately yesterday his divorce was finalized,3 kids, tough sledding for everyone) and have to get up to face the madness of Dan John…Have I ever mentioned I hate squats?

Incline BP

2,3,5 x185 for 2 sets…they are clusters, you do 2 reps brief rest 3 reps brief rest 5 reps…

Bat wings 25lbs
10x5 sec hold

One arm DB Press 55lbs
2,3,5, 2 sets each arm

bird dogs 10 side

complex: row, clean , front, mp, back, gm
5x5x85lbs

And for the main event in this corner and aging, tired, scrawny, gangly goat…in the far corner a BB w/95lbs

1x30x95…1x30x115…I was supposed to do 2 sets at 95 today but I tweaked the program up a notch…what a dumbass goat…at about rep 16 I am thinking damn my heart is pounding and I am barely half way…I made it and than thought oh lord, in 5 sessions the goal is 185 x50? who is this Dan John freak anyway! its been 40 minutes since my cool down and I can barely type.

Tomorrow is rest day ( i wonder if I can convince Mrs Goat that that means I shouldn’t mow the lawn?) and Sunday is a refresh day so next madness is Monday…oh crap I already hate Monday.

Have a great weekend all, off to the salt mine shortly,

Peace
