I hate Squats Club

Eco, Joe, Strick- Thanks for the well wishes for my boy…much appreciated. Tomorrow will be a blast!
ECO- he is so pumped that he informed me that if they win on Saturday he is not going to try-out on Sunday for a summer recruiting showcase he wanted to do so badly for the past year…doesn’t want to risk getting injured before the title bout…I respect the hell out of that!! Although my $150 registration fee is now dust in the wind!!

Strick- 6/4/2 trumps 5/3/1…just kidding. I wanted to change it up a little and Pete S joked on someones thread about doing 6/4/2 because of all the 5/3/1 guys. I laughed and decided what the hell.

Today was brutal…two days in a row of 5 hours sleep ( or less ) and today was dead day…literally!
During warm-ups 225 was incredibly heavy that there was no way I was going to make 4 on 285. So instead of failing today I decided to drop down to 185 and bang out doubles for speed and really work my form.

so I did 8x2x185

GM’s

3x10x95 again dropped down just to get the work in

RDLS
2x12x135

No way was I doing sprints.

That was it…Tonight I will grill steaks, have a couple of frosties and hit the rack…early…I will hit the Slosh Pipe tomorrow morning along with my beloved highly accelerated jogs!

have a great weekend,

Peace

Lol…sounds like as good a reason as any. Maybe it will work better for you and you can market it !?

Enjoy the steaks and beer. That sounds really good!

x2 Give 'em hell!

JW and Strick- we lost 12-11 in OT. led the entire game until the last goal…Didn’t get home until after midnight. My son played very well scoring 3 and assisting on 2 more, but not enough this time around. Life goes on…No training this AM…

That sucks, OG! I’m glad he got to play in the big show, though. And it sounds like he did well.

When I was a Sr. in HS, we played for state, in football. We were defending champs and riding a 29 game win streak. We lost. That one still gnaws in my craw. I do sympathize…

Sorry about the game. Your son sounds like quite a player. We have a tourn tomorrow. Four 1/2 hour games (I think).

OG - Really good stuff about your son. Even though it was a loss, it was a good battle and character builder. If you don’t compete, you’ll never be a winner.
Much respect for him and your support.

1st I try to hunt down Wilson and now you. I hope you two didn’t join some cult or something.

Nice to see there are still some older guys still lifting heavy. My first thread here but long time reader, at 54 this summer I just finished my 5th cycle of 5/3/1 and I am getting burned out. My strength peaked around the end of the third cycle and I don’t do much assistance exercises.

I have been lifting natural for over thirty years and this is a great program. I am backing off for a week or two and starting up again but keeping it to three cycles. The three sets of five were really tough as you get up in weight. I feel that the deload should stay light and not progress up with all the other poundages. What do you guys think?

You’re on the right track. When a lift peaks, you can either change it out for a similar, but differant lift, or you can reset your current training max 10-20% lower and start out again, this time aiming for more rep pr’s and working up past your training max. Just one old farts opinion.

If I reset a training max, which is what I usually do, I will start adding extra sets either before or after the max rep set to get in more work at the top weight. I have found this to be useful after a reset.

Just wanted to check in to see how things are going, havent seen on here in a while.

Yeah! What’s up with that?

Sorry guys I have been hoofing it all over and not checked in…Philly, Balto, Danbury,CT London and Graz Austria…and I am headed back to Balto this weekend. haven’t gotten much work done on the lifting front. A couple of basic workouts this week and hopefully back it at full time end of next week…July is always brutal on me because of kids playing club lacrosse and the two biz trips just added to the JOY!

Hopefully tonight and tomorrow I check up on everyone and make sure there aren’t any slackers ( like myself).

Peace

Good to hear from you. I was starting to worry.
Austria, you say…I bet that was beautiful.

It’ll be good to have you back in the mix.

Strick- Austria is one of my favorite places and Graz is a small city but with great history and great booze if you know where the locals commune!.. found my way back to gym this morning…and I didn’t even need GPS!
