Right, but we’re talking about posts in the Bodybuilding Forum, on the website that bills itself as Bodybuilding’s Think Tank, or used to, at least.

But no, let’s ignore all of that and keep yelling out how this site isn’t just about bodybuilding. That way, when they don’t gain two ounces of muscle in two years, they can all claim that was the goal all along!

LOL…hey guys, I have no problem with the thread. I just saw that guy’s one post and simply pointed out this site is more than just bodybuilding, which is 101% without a doubt true.

But go ahead and attack me anyway for no reason. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why did you post in here?

Women wear dresses. What the fuck does that have to do with anything remotely related to the subject of this thread, or this forum?

Your post is no different that “women wear dresses”. It may be true, but what point is there in saying it?

Kids…

im one of the guys who wants to get huge aswell, im 6ft9 and 220 so i have a hell of a journey ahead of me. im not gonna slow down until i get to 300 atleast

My two cents (which may not be worth even that)… Not to call out anyone in particular, but I too am kind of sick of the ‘T-Nation isn’t just bodybuilding’ discussion. From my perspective, that just signals a lack of a sense of history of the site. Now I realize my post count won’t indicate this, but I’ve been reading T-Nation for a long time, but not nearly as long as some of the vets that are here (and posting in this thread).

When I first found T-Nation, I went back into the archives and investigated everything that is still online. If you do this you’ll clearly see that the heart of T-Nation has always been bodybuilding. Over time, it may have evolved to become more than that (sports training, fat loss, etc) and we’re certainly all lucky to get free articles covering these things all the time.

But you must recognize that most of the people that have been here a long time (and have the most experience in this game), came to T-Nation as bodybuilders (or powerlifters) to discuss lifting heavy weights with intensity to build your body into something greater than average.

I encourage new members to spend a lot of time in the archives…there’s a lot of cool info there…

DS

i wana be as big as marcus felix! but have a manlier voice lol (wont say that to his face

i looked at that flat stomch website for a laugh (need one, my chainsaw broke today :frowning:
and its not that bad really - abs start in the kitchen, healthy habits-not diets, spot reducing is a myth etc, the people who havnt got a clue but are too intimidated by sites like these could find that site helpful.

LOL…so you don’t even bother to look at the post I quoted when I wrote my response? Maybe you should learn to read for comprehension. Someone said this site is for bodybuilding, and I said it’s not.

So that’s the same as randomly saying “women wear dresses”?

Then I like how you called me kid at the end. Wow, you really pwned me there, sport!

Whether this site is about bodybuilding is up for debate (though historically I’d say that it is). But, whether this specific forum is about bodybuilding is not debatable. The title is “Bodybuilding” after all.

So, why a thread about not wanting to get huge would get more posts in a “Bodybuilding” forum is an interesting (and like some have said sad to some extent) question.

Imagine if someone posted a thread about not wanting to get too strong in the “Strength Sports” forum. Other than perhaps ruthless flaming, do you really think that would be an appropriate, or highly discussed topic? I certainly wouldn’t.

Tirib, funny post and so true.

You would be wrong. This is a bodybuilding website first and foremost. Show me the logo that says “Not a Body Building Think Tank” and then you may have something. Until then - you are pretty much just full of shit.

My reading comprehension is just fine, but thanks for your concerns. More with the “women wear dresses” logic line? Stick to the facts. Wait - you make your facts up as you go along.

How old are you then if you are not a child?

Are you freak’n kidding me? Are you telling me the main purpose of this website serves for the intent purpose of serving those who are interested in only increasing muscle size at all costs as opposed to other important issues such as speed, power, strength, postural issues, sex, etc? Are you for real, buddy? My evidence is the thousands of posts and articles that have contributed to an entire range of athletes AND bodybuilders alike all striving for different goals. Limiting this website to the thought that’s it’s first and foremost for bodybuilders is just flat out ignorant.

And you have the gull to tell me that I’M making up facts? What are YOUR facts, pal? Is this T-bodybuildingnation.com? No. Is this the bodybuilding forum? Yes. But last time I checked, this board is just one of many here on T-Nation.

BTW, I’m 21, thanks. And I sure hope you’re younger than I am considering how off base and immature your responses have been.

I’m with you on this. While I’m young (22), I’ve been reading this site for a little over 4 years. In high school (and half of college), I was 150 lbs., all upper-body, with some abs. It worked at the time as far as girls go, but after helping friends move furniture and working with my dad and his friend on some construction, I realized I was pretty fucking weak.

Then, I saw pics of me next to and around people who I considered muscular, and I was small and skinny. It was quite the wake-up call, and although I’m not that big yet, my mentality is such that I know it’s going to happen (I have been gaining for a while, and plan on continuing).

Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of things on this site. The main constant is skinny kids (and adults) arguing with vets about lifting and gaining size. It takes time for the lightbulb to click with a lot of these people, if it ever does.

To me, there is a time and a place for scientific studies. When it comes to getting big, the studies are pretty much irrelevant. The samples in these studies are not representative of the bodybuilding population, therefore they hold very little application.

Even worse than these people who demand studies are the people who think things SHOULD work in certain ways when they don’t. “Whole eggs have a lot of cholesterol, eating a lot can not be good for you.” Wake up, retard, you’ve got a 250 lb. guy in good health telling you whole eggs helped him grow muscle.

Anyway, to the skinny/small ones reading this, stop kidding yourselves. Get over whatever is stopping you from getting bigger, and do it.

He’s got you there rainjack. Obviously this is actually a postural improvement site. Can’t possibly be that most of those are either related to bodybuilding or secondary interests of the site. Nope, having articles that aren’t just about increasing muscle size obviously means that this isn’t a bodybuilding site.

Although T-Magnum isn’t completely dedicated to bodybuilding, the bodybuilding forum has the most posts, and threads, making the site a bodybuilding site.

Gawd, this is getting stupid. I never could have imagined growing up that there would be a day when every guy who isn’t trying to gain much muscle mass would log onto a BODYBUILDING DISCUSSION FORUM to jump into discussions about BODYBUILDING only so they can tell everyone that they exist.

That is your point, right? That you exist? Guess what? We don’t care.

I respect athletes for their effort and that includes all sports. However, the activity of bodybuilding must be the only one where so many people attach themselves to it only so they can either degrade or downplay the massive amount of dedication it takes to get to an extreme level.

We are constantly reminded (excessively) that no one should listen to big bodybuilders. Yes, those words were written in this forum as referring to “pro bodybuilders”.

We are CONSTANTLY reminded that 150lbs people exist who don’t want big muscles.

We are CONSTANTLY informed by some authors that large bodybuilders can’t walk up stairs if they can walk or breath at all.

What isn’t CONSTANTLY written is how fucking under-represented the act of BODYBUILDING is on a freaking BODYBUILDING DISCUSSION FORUM.

This site, along with much of this ever feminizing society, is getting fucking pathetic.

If you are an athlete, great. Be the best pro/college/high school athlete you can be. If, however, your rants of how you despise muscle mass are coming from the mouth of someone who doesn’t play any sports on that level and your main concern is whether your sized medium Banana Republic cotton pull-over still looks Backstreet Boy-tastic, you are a pussy of the highest order.

Evidently, you need to make an appointment with Sylvan ASAP and get some help. On second thought - it’s probably too much of a job for them, as I don’t think they pass out the particular brand of Hockey Helmet you would need to safely sit at a desk and actually fucking read a damn thread and understand it.

I’ll defer to all of the other folks that have posted and not waste any more of my time on someone as obviously clueless as you .

People are becoming more and more entrenched here to sides. Would it not be easier to admit that the pursuit of muscle mass is present in many…many different arena’s, and the extent of this pursuit is determined not by being a pussy/or not, but rather that you fullfill your own personal goals.

Lots of guys would use the knowledge obtained here to simply look good nekid. Hear the rave reviews about the phsiques of Ryan Reynolds, Usher and GASP Brad Pitt?
Not all women dig the huge look…so what does that mean? If you wanna get huge your gay? Hardly…The reason this is causing contention is because as I said above…the line is blurred. Let it stay that way guys.

Judging someone because of their physique goals is ignorance of the highest order…whether its to become the biggest veiniest triumphant bastard ever…or to impress the ladies and feel better about your self image and fill out your banana republic top. Come on X…you and most of the guys here are better than that.

Are you kidding me? Do you honestly think most of the “I don’t want to get too HEEYOOGE” crowd has specific goals? Of course they don’t. The average person making this statement doesn’t follow bodybuilding at all and simply thinks they know what they DO NOT want to be as if they have to actively avoid it or it will happen by accident. To think otherwise is to truly believe that women have a clue when they make the same comment.

The line has never been blurred. Why do you think I mentioned what my own original goal was? When I wrote I originally wanted to weigh 180lbs, that was nearly 100lbs ago. We all have different end goals. It has been stated SEVERAL TIMES. However, there is one large factor that makes worrying about getting “too huge” so laughably funny that wire brushes should be used to slap the face of the next individual to utter it. That factor is GENETICS.

The simple chance of even two guys in this thread being able to reach the level of many competing bodybuilders is so slim that it isn’t really even worth discussing. The average person will have to work their freaking ass off just to make any form of significant progress at all…progress they won’t make if they start this worrying about how big they do NOT want to be.

That alone is what makes these types of comments ridiculous. It also highlights who the ones are who don’t want to work very hard. I can say that because unless their reason is a pressing need to stay exactly where they are (ie. sports with weight classes that they actively compete in), setting a LIMIT on your own progress before you ever get anywhere close to it is about as lame as you can get.

This is not simply about stating a goal as you so mistakingly put together.

Where has this been said? Please provide a direct quote.

Short of that - stop making shit up. The asshole came into a sobdy building forum and started waving his vagina.

What the fuck ever happened to reading shit?

You fucking little brats need to go back to school - or just get the fuck out of a thread titled “I Do Want To Be Huge” in a fucking Bodybuilding forum.

Had this been a thread about functional strength, or rabbit fucking, then maybe you would have a point. It’s not - so just fucking leave.
