many thanks douglas. i assume you mean the before/after pic at the beginning of the thread? well that is of course a span of 25 friggin years! all on and off (mostly off). but as i’ve stated many times before, the foundation i built for myself in those first 2 years of training from 14-16 has never left me. so it was always easy for me to, after not training for a few years, just start up again and look as i had when i last stopped in a matter of a few months. but this time i just got the bug.
i was tired of a lifetime of false starts and wasted potential. i just wish i had the drive and discipline i have now 20 years ago! invest the work consistently and there’s no reason you can’t look great at any age. [/quote]
Actually I was talking about the comparison pic from 05 to 07 on the page before this. I knew you always talked about not getting serious till recently, but I didn’t know you did that much work in only a few years. Again, awesome job.
thanks kmc. i think i’ve tried every gym in nyc…lol. the worst was equinox. i mean it was nice and clean but the clientele was a joke. mainly pencil neck lawyers and brokers with no clue how to train just there to get in my damn way!
a typical scenario would be me leaving a machine to get a drink and coming back less that 30 seconds later only to find some guy with nerdy new balance sneakers and the black nylon dress socks he wore to the office that day removing the cable attachment i just put on. i’d keep my cool and politely tell him to shove off. but can i work in? NO!

I can agree on the equinox- someone gave my wife a 30 day pass-
that I used. Fantastic facility- least gym like of any gym
Best gym in NYC- the old Bath Beach Bodybuilding now called
detail fitness. More 45lb plates than any 5 gyms I have been since. And you get to work out with a bunch of Made guys.
I thought Synergy on Mulberry was OK a little bare bones, but decent.
Now I train at the YMCA- pool and one block from my apartment.
to easy not to.
Not to shit on your parade since your gains are obviously good, but in 25 years U coulda done better if you ate more/trained more properly, any average joe after 25 years of training could have achieved that.
5.5/10
(sorry the thread is kinda oldish, 2nd page, but i couldnt NOT reply)

wtf? We’re not here to rate progress you fuckwit. His physique is spectacular, and you’re just jealous.
25 years. Well one thing is for sure. You’re not lying about being clean. A juicer would have done that in a fraction of the time (all other factors being the same). Good job and congrats on not taking the shortcut!!!

thanks burbanky. but i must point out that the progress which has led to my current level of development has certainly not been 25 years of constant work. it’s been 25 years since i started lifting with many, many gaps of inactivity in between. a pattern of lifting from spring thru fall then quitting during the cold months only to start up again the following spring. but a very consistent regimen of training and diet for a solid 18 months unleashed the physique i always wanted but never had the discipline to achieve.

Drivethruhero,
You sir, are an asshole. Find a new forum for your bullshit. You’ll fit in great here: Bodybuilding.com.
1morerep,
Sorry for jumping on your thread. I’m sure you’ve had to deal with fuck stains like “hero” before.
You’ve obviously earned your physique from hard work and a solid training foundation. Keep kicking ass…

hahahhahahahahahhaha THIS guy is shitting on you?? THIS guy??
1more, great job. It’s good to see that at almost 40 (well actually 40 now) you can still have the type of physique we all strive for. I’m glad to see that being in top physical condition doesn’t have to be a peak, it can be an extended plateau of many years or decades even.

although it’s as obvious as obvious can get, he is right that i’d be far beyond where i am now had i been super consistent in both training and diet for the last 25 years. it doesn’t take a genius to come to that conclusion.
his other comment about any average joe achieving success after 25 years is bull. we all know people who have been training forever, and some pretty consistently who never improve…year after year. so he obviously is talking out of his ass there.
ahhh youth! he posted, got flamed beyond anything he ever imagined and now is quite angry. hey, i’d be pissed too if i got a flaming like that on top of looking like mclovin’s twin brother.

lol…thank u! and yes u are correct…i have no interest in competing. there is a small part of me that would enjoy showing off the fruits of my labor but then again, i just have too many weak points. and bringing them up for competition sake might take the enjoyment out of it all for me. i really don’t want to lie awake at night worrying about how my glute/ham tie-ins are doing!
