How The Hell Do You Eat Big?

ok guys, so i keep a log of what all i eat today and i didnt think i really eat that much but i took in around 3000 calories so if i keep this up do you think this will be enough to start growing? do i need to go up a little, down a little? any advice would be appriciated guys thanks

Eat. And if you have trouble with quantity, stick to calorie dense foods to get you over the hump.

And what’s this crap about being a poor college student? I worked while I was in school, so what is your excuse?

One thing that does not seem to have been mentioned so far in this thread is that you may still be growing (ie in height). If so, it will be more difficult to pack on the muscle.

As for how much is enough, just suck it and see. Eat 3000 cals for a month and see if you weigh more. If not, add another 500 cals. Keep this process up until you are adding 1-2 lbs a week. Keep this up for a year, then reassess where you are. Remember to take before and after shots so you can show us the results. Looking forward to the “grateful” thread in the future.

i dont have a car or no form or transportation and i cant get a job on campus because i have applied for all i can, i have been in some trouble when i was younger and its hard to get a job with my background, so i am just focusing on my school and trying to make something out of myself

Get in 3 solid meals a day and add in some shakes its not to hard to rack up the Kcals

Just buy a blender.

Good for you, man. Stay true and keep at it.

Also, cartons of pasteurized egg whites aren’t particularly cheap, but adding a cup to each shake adds about 23g protein and close to 200 cals. Making a 1000cal shake isn’t hard, and neither is downing it.

looks like im gonna have to buy me a blender!

One of the best ideas for saving money and eating big efficiently was touched on by Professor X – preparing meals ahead of time. Many, many times in my life when I was dirt poor it was cooking big quantities ahead of time of things like various bean and rice dishes like red beans and rice, jambalaya, gumbos, lentils/rice, pigeon peas/rice etc, with chicken legs/thighs and sausage being the main meat source.

That along with oatmeal for breakfast, and cheap protein rich foods like tuna, milk powder, corned beef, cottage cheese.

Right before bed, I eat 2 peanut butter sandwiches on wheat and 1/3 cup of cashews, then wash it down with chocolate milk with Metabolic Drive. If you did this alone, I think you could gain some decent weight. Do this along with some other good suggestions you have here, you’re golden.

alright guys ive been doing pretty good, getting in around 3000 calories a day, i am a little ashamed to say this but i have a question, about 900 calories a day comes from the pop (soft drinks) that i take in, is this bad or useless? i know its not healthy, but i am addicted to caffeine, seriously, and the thing is i drink a lot of pop because i drink one with every meal i eat, so its not like im drinking them on their own, just wanting to know some ideas on this thanks

At your age this is not fatal, but it’s a bad habit to get into. All that sugar will eventually give your pancreas a hard time.

It’s bad for your teeth. There are only about 120cals in one can of soda so that means you are drinking quite a bit. It is like some of you simply don’t understand moderation. I’m not even going to lie like I never drink sodas, but I would NEVER drink that many on a regular basis. You are screwing yourself. I see several thousands of dollars worth of dental work in your future.

Get rid of the soft drinks immediately, those are very bad empty calories. If you need caffeine, drink tea or coffee. And watch the intake of those, that is unless you dont use sugar or creamer. Since you lose 900 calories with taking out soft drinks, you could eat three big healthy meals (that contain a lean protein source, a complex carb source, a veggie source, and a legume source), and three other small meals.

Remember this one item-Pop Tarts. Just two of them has FOUR HUNDRED calories. Eat two between breakfast and lunch and two between lunch and supper and badda bing, badda boom-You’ve got 800 calories (only 100 calories from totally replacing soft drinks). Not only that, they’re not empty calories and you don’t have to worry about being a diabetic in your later years.

I third this.

Helped me gain weight…one or two before bed is a great thing.

Also, one thing that’s really worked well for me is mashing, dicing or otherwise mixing your food.

Let’s say, for example, you have a couple of chicken breasts and rice. Dice that shit up, mix it with the rice, put a little seasoning on it and pack it in. Or carve your steak into a bunch of little cubes, put it in the baked potato, etc.

It’s probably just my imagination, but it seems like I digest it faster that way, and am able to eat more in one sitting than otherwise.
