Ok lol now my head is huge.

Its ok progress  I went from 1200 to 1500 in a year while only running 1 cycle of enthenate(1st cycle) trolololo

Wait did you really bring your squat up from 400 to 600 in a single year? I am at 405 right now with 425 as my best and I would love to bring my squat to 600 in a year.

BTW props on your transformation. Not to sound like a dick but way back like 6 plus months ago I used to wonder who is this dude who is on all these peds and looks not so impressive and is strong but not crazy strong. But you stepped it up. Strong and mean looking.

I’ve got a question and am too lazy to shift through your log for the answer.

How do you transition with your CAT squats as you get closer to a meet? I’ve implemented them recently after reading an interview with Sam, then noticed that Jay Nera utilizes them as well. I’ve got my own ideas but am curious how you are peaking with them.

So you’re squatting once a week with CATs taking place of heavy squats in the offseason. Gotcha. For some reason I thought y’all were squatting twice a week.

Really pulling for you in the meet. Chasing the same squat and dead numbers myself.

In the off season we are Mahwah we CAT squats on Sundays and Front Squat heavy on Wednesdays or Thursday depending on schedule.

Thanks man I really hope to hit them big time I really want 1500 at this at 198. Gonna take about 6 months off from competing after this and focus on making my bench not so pathetic. When is your next meet?

hey what’s your OHP / Push Press lookin like these days? I always wondered about how you trained that

I have not really done them in a few months since I have been focusing on Bench Strenghh right now so much. But, Last time I did Push Presses about 2 months ago I hit 315 fairly easy. As for shoulder press I 225 for 5 just playing around the other day. I really have not focued on it at all. But when I saw the biggest jump in it I was focusing on heavy Bench work and Tricep Overload on Tuesday and Friday would be a Strict Press for volume. The next week I would do the exact opposite and Do a heavy Push Press or BTN Jerk for a few singles or Doubles and then Friday would be a Speed and Tech Bench day. WOrkedgreat for my overhead pressing and if and when I make my way back to Strongman I will take the exact same program again.

My first usapl meet is mid-march. Trying to suck up my ego and wrap my head around a non-knee-wrapped squat…sux asss.

Your training, and all of your damn pr whoring, has been very motivational for me. Keep it up.

315 push press and 225 for 5 is pretty impressive in my book. I don’t even think I can push press 205. But I think working my shoulders and triceps in the OHP will help my bench continue to go up.

Thanks for answering-lots of info in here.

that’s an interesting program, do you use certain percentages for volume pressing day and speed bench day or just go by feel?

Biggest thing that helped me was Lockout Overloads and Bench Pressing. Floor Presses, Sling Shot, and Reverse Band work helped my Push Press numbers in sanely. Then Full Range Benching and Incline Presses helped my OHP numbers. I tried just OHP and shoulders bit until I started Benching my Pressing strength was much less.

50-70% for 5-10 sets of 2-5 reps. Like using bands a bit here too.

Fuck things are cooking around here, awesome, I could sit back and listen to you and mahwah talk without having to ask any questions. I’m hoping to have 500+ on my back by this Jan.( currently 405–450 area) if my knee, or my head don’t get in the way. I’m thinking about cutting back from 3 squat sessions a week to 2, and put my front squats with volume squats, make it one day. Now, on the cat squats, do you always use 60%, that seems rather light for sets of 5,. are these paused. I’ve been hitting 5x5 with 75%, trying to keep 1 min between sets, but no pause.

With the 3 sessions a week, I’m doing, front squat ( Tue ) CAT volume day ( Thur) and heavy squats + one all out set of deads ( Sun), kinda following what Nera does, but it’s beating me up, and I’m basicaly training natty until april—mayish. I know it’s alot to ask, but if I’m going to drop this to 2 sessions a week, how would you set this up.

There’s couple question’s hidden in that mess, but see what you can make of it. Thanks

Reed, nice PR on the Bench 300 paused 3 sets of 2, saw the video on the PR topic. Just curious, as a shorter lifter, have you ever used blocks under your feet? I use them in comps, and also just use a 45 lb plate on each side in the gym, and have noticed far more leg drive that way. When I don’t use them, I feel like my legs are hanging more than driving.

Yeah 1 year ago this month actually. I got of the Army in October 2012 about 15 months ago to this date actually. I weighed 180lbs and Squat about 360ish in knee wraps with questionable depth. Late January of 2013 I moved my Squat up to almost 400 in wraps. Then meet a power lifting friend and coach and picked his brain about AAS and started training with him. I began 1000mg of Test E and 600mg of Deca with Dbol kick start of 20mg every 8 hours. Ran this all the way till basically August of 2012 then began dropped the Deca for 700-1000mg of Tren until I competed in my first meet November 9th I went 525 / 295 / 560 raw with wraps.

I then dropped down to nothing but 250mg of Test and 200mg of Deca for 3 weeks. Then December I started my trial with 2000mg of Test and ran that for about 6 weeks and quit due to estrogen and blood pressure sides and not really seeing a difference. Immediately dropped my Test to 500mg and picked up 800mg of Tren and 400mg of EQ and just started Super Drol 25mg daily for 4 weeks leading into next meet. To date as of this week I squat 520 for 5, 540 for 3 and Light Mini bands 650 for a easy single. Benched 315 touch and go and 300 paused for 3 sets of 2 easy and have pulled 580 and 645 against light minis.

I’ll admit I didn’t look like I ran that much gear and have drastically changed my appearance in the past few months and many say I jumped the gun but I have been on Trt since I was 18 due shitty cycles in high school for foot ball and fucking my self up. So, I figured fuck it I’m on for life no matter what so lets go full fucking force and do this shit and that’s what I did and am still doing.[/quote]

I appreciate you being so transparent with this. I’ve stayed out of this thread because I figured I might come off as an asshole, but I’ll add this:

I think your diet coupled with drugs has been the primary driver in increasing your numbers so drastically. It’s the most lethal combination in terms of progress, IMO. You could be doing just about anything and making great progress with those two in order, but you obviously have good guidance.

I hope people reading this thread don’t assume it’s a magic training program that’s helped you so much, but rather dialing in the mundane (diet) and training hard/consistent, with the caveat that you are assisted and thus able to recover better and recomp in a way a natty can’t.

Good luck…I’ll be competing at 198 in May and hope total elite at the very least, but I have my sights set on 1500+ as well.

Thanks for the advise Reed, now I’ve always done my heavy lower body day on Sun, which is no probllem I’ll just move front squats to Sun, with some deads, and the CAT squats on Wed - Thurs. The only other question I’d have on this, is that in the past I’ve always front squated after deads, but in this case, the front squats are my priority they would go first.

I’m not concerned with my deads right now, they’ve always been my best lift in the past, and even without working them, they stay exactly tied with my squat, but I like to get atleast one good set a week in. Anyway I’ve answered my own questions while typing this  So heavy front squats every week ( Sun), and heavy back squats every third week ( Thurs). I think this will do my old body some good.

I’ve been trying to hit a PR every week on the back squat, and managed to do it for about the first 6mths back. The last couple months tough have been a mess, coming back from injury / layoff, you have a picture in your head of what weights you should be lifting, and this fucks with the reality of what you should be doing. I just needed to here it from someone else. Thanks

Have you ever tried rest pause on the bench, thats what finaly got me moving a few years ago, when I was stuck. later

I dont pull much right now. I do alot of speed pulls in the off season but only go heavy from blocks and Reverse Bands during that time. Also I do them heavy on weeks that I CAT Squat and Frojt Squat for higher reps.

I have not tried that yet but, once this meet is over I am going to start trying some new stuff if I don’t see some increased gains. Seriously if my bench was where it should be compared to my Squat and Deadlift id be looking at 1600 total easy
