How Old Is Too Old To Skate Board?

Sweet, you 180’d a feeble into a fakie!
I remember learning to fakie. A four foot hop is huge! I must have tried for two whole days then all of a sudden I nailed them. I have not ridden since last summer and this thread is making me think I should bust out the bmx. I have a full suspension mtb aswell. I was planning on giving downhill mountain biking a few goes this summer.

yea it was strange when i learned how to hop high. all of a sudden i found this groove and i was jumping twice as high. i dont think about it now but i remember it was like i was trying to jump backwards and all of a sudden i was just up there. ill try and get some pics up of me when i was around seventeen doing some stuff.

can anyone relate this to powerlifting? my numbers are not all that impressive and maybe i just have not found my “groove” yet.?

i dont remember who touched on this but the learning how to fall thing is crucial. ive avoided so many serious injuries because i know how to put my body in a way that will result in the least damage. so go outside and practice falling down, ill meet you in five.

Wow, you didn’t just drop the “Send me and Angel” bomb. I could have sworn RL was in that flick. Used to hang with him during the Club Homeboy, Jive Hangles days. I don’t know why more contests don’t have dances anymore, where have all the good times gone? Thanks for the note on the call. Dnic. Any thoughts on re creating the old Club Homeboy Charlie Brown Shirt R-style?
That would be sweet…but have you seen the core division logo. A secret but it’ll go with the Tommy G deck…

Beware the CKY series, great skating but not for kids. Do I sound like a Dad now? John, give me a hand here…(tears running)
Did you ever ? that?s your equivalent of “mom jeans”. My vote is having Animal Chin on his room just playing in a loop along with my original vinyl collection circa '78 for a least the first year. At least he’ll understand Dad’s roots.

And btw…is there any chance he won’t rip.

OK, so I plan to ride my board to work tomorrow as long as it doesn’t rain. What’s the best way to learn how to jump on and off curbs so I don’t look like an ass walking my board across every intersection?
Just ride right now - dont stress about walking across an intersection. Enjoy!

Get some soft ass wheels and let it rip, loosed the trucks and just go carve the streets. It has some minimal mobility rather than a short board. Ollies are tough if you have a surf insprired model. Great for that trip to the store for a 12 pack of Heineken and diapers.
this could be a great line of comments because I’m thinking of my favorite items to pick up on my August deck. I’m more into Shiraz and sushi from Traders…but that seems as a precursor to Heine / diapers.

Hi
Can anyone here recommend a decent set of truck and wheels for a guy on a budget? My skateboard sucks. It weighs a ton and the trucks it came with are beyond redemption.
I was just gonna buy a plain deck and stick on new parts.
Thanks,
Paulos

Since you’re in England you’ve got an incredible skate community and retailers. Obviously how you ride will change your selection of wheels, bearings and trucks. I ride on Indy 215’s with Bowl Bombers 64/PF and either Red’s or Swiss bearings, which are just blazin’ fast. Visit powell-peralta.com for some great info and for a bit of fun just check out this pic: http://www.powellperalta.co.uk/indexa.htm

Ventures are not bad and the price is right. They do tend to run a little more suited for the more narrow boards. And get harder bushings for them too, they wear out on ventures like mad.

Just beware the OC soccer mom that is on her cell phone just itching to drill some punk on a long board. Trader’s parking lots are infested with em.

He is going to be baptized at Etnies. Animal Chin on the loop would be phenom, lets see about the track list that would probably start with rocking track 3 off The Clash Sandinista album. I gotta look closer at that Core division logo.

Thanks guys, I will check some new parts out this weekend.

Sweet; I made it to work in one piece! Got heckled twice and whistled at once.

That was fun. I’m grinning ear-to-ear.

Nice work, that’s one way to beat the morning commute. You get extra style points if the whistles were coming from that convenient skate past the high school.

Not to mention, let’s add the pipeline stretch to a long ride. Those hips will really be feeling it. About the mobility of a long board, I did see Gator R. place 5th at an NSA event in 88’ rocking a long board with a high tail. I can admire his style and balls for doing this at the event, not his other than skating activites.

Damn this thread!

Dont think that my wife is going to support me going out and buying a board! Well, she would but I would feel a tad guilty spending more money on myself!

Been thinking about trading in the MTB for a road bike since there isn’t really much to do on one up here in N. Iowa; I guess I could cruise around in the corn fields! Oh the choices we have to make in life!
