That was fun. I’m grinning ear-to-ear.

Nice work, that’s one way to beat the morning commute. You get extra style points if the whistles were coming from that convenient skate past the high school.

you meant to add with toes on the nose and smooth laid-back g-style to it as well…

Not to mention, let’s add the pipeline stretch to a long ride. Those hips will really be feeling it. About the mobility of a long board, I did see Gator R. place 5th at an NSA event in 88’ rocking a long board with a high tail. I can admire his style and balls for doing this at the event, not his other than skating activites.

what a great thread…a hidden reference to “RAD”, a Hansen avatar (what no one else catch), even a few boneless reference but now…GATOR - brilliant

Nothing like pipeline in a long downhill carve. I’ve got 2 great runs - one 3 miles in SJC and nother 7 in Malibu.

later…

The only advice I can offer is you are a wuss like me, then you should learn to olly the board on a carpeted surface. This way the board will not shoot out from under you when you get it wrong on the first few tries.
I prefer BMX anyway.

hehe…i’d say loosen the trucks and carve but now that we’re on the BMX scene, I guess I gotta roll out my Lavin. Anyone else BMX/MTB?

I ride BMX now and then but not lately, my bike has pretty much gone to shit and I haven’t had the desire to sit down and repair it. I used to be really into it though.

ahex … gotta get back into it! You’ll pick it up fast, cuz, well, it’s just like riding a bike!

I’ll show you but NO way post online. I’d hit with some of SC locals, including some on tour especially late at night. One would trail with headlights and then take turns driving back up. However its also watched and a few years ago with I was ticketed …“yeah Skateboarding is a crime here”…just wish I had a pic - would have been priceless.

Hmm, if I get off early maybe I’ll go home that way.

I’m not supposed to post pictures of chicks anymore…according to some it’s taking away from the quality of the training discussion.
Oh well.

Damn this thread!

Dont think that my wife is going to support me going out and buying a board! Well, she would but I would feel a tad guilty spending more money on myself!

Been thinking about trading in the MTB for a road bike since there isn’t really much to do on one up here in N. Iowa; I guess I could cruise around in the corn fields! Oh the choices we have to make in life!

get the wifey a board too. i did for my girl and its a good present that doesn’t require going into funky “chick” stores[/quote]

Skate and Destrrooooy !

it doesn’t really matter if you’re a girl or a boy !

Skate and Destroy !

lol…well too bad we can’t get some great women who rip on this forum and oh yeah - “training discussion” is extremely high quality.

talk with you later and hope you rode today.

“RAD” got me twelve stitches in my head. I was adjusting the bandanna around my ankle while I was riding and crashed into the back of a van. Awesome!

If you must know, I won’t get a chance to ride today since it’s back to Seattle type weather up here in Norcal. I’m ready to go Police Academy 5 and just carve up the parking garage at the mall.

Dude - I am 38 and my wife got one for me for Christmas along with my 4 kids. Sure I get funny looks from the neighbors because I am out with the kids, or when I drag sled or train at 9pm at night, but heck I look at them and I also look back at my own father at this age…I like where I am at.

I also recently took up snowboarding…why not I figure I am not going to get any younger.

Good luck and don’t break a leg!

i think rodney mullen is in his 40’s now but he gets away with skateboarding as he is severly shit hot - watch what he does in this vid - there are times when he kicks the board again in the air to send it the other way - u hardly even notice !

i love the static stuff he does

Too old is when YOU decide you are too old. Live life on your own terms and don’t worry about anything else. This thread reminds me of one of Ferruggia’s recent blogs:

RAD! I just rescued my board from a buddy that borrowed it right after I bought it. It was like 3 years old…went to see him at his new place and he was using it as a tray for his kid to eat mac and cheese from. Not even a scratch on the trucks yet. Now my buddy here at work tried to ollie and cracked it…Awesome. It’s great to see a thread like this as well as having davies post!

Haha, I’d say skating is no longer the underground activity it was for me back in the 80s; five pages of interest on a muscle/strength website!

For what it’s worth, 37 here and rapidly approaching 38 and I’ve never quit skating. Skating pools and roundwall is a passion of mine that I’ll take with me to the grave.

If it’s something you want to do then do it. When I was growing up skating there were never any rites of passage of rolling with a crew other than a desire to skate. Ha, can’t necessarily say the same thing with surfing.

At any rate, I’m really stoked that I’ve skated long enough to see the rebirth of some great parks; build them public, free, and concrete and there gonna be there for a lifetime. It’s also cool that I’m seeing some guys I’ve skated with for a lifetime starting to roll with their kids.

Keep rolling!
