Hello good evening guys,I have been working out for over 4 years in the gym, started with bodyweight and also jogging at the park before working out.I am a retail salesman and also have a family,so I do not invest or spend a lot of money on fitness even though it is my main hobby. How much have you guys invested during your fitness journey and also equally important is time invested in the gym all these years for you all?
Double digit thousands
Fitness alone has a reasonable price tag.
Once you add “excel” to the fitness “hobby”, the cost increases exponentially. I am well into the double digit thousands. It could very well be fairly deep into 6 digits.
This year my supplement cost alone is over $500 per month.
When I competing in bodybuilding, it was the difference of driving a “beater” and a new car every two years, some years much more.
Bottom line: What is your definition of “fitness”?
Currently in the phase of willing to give all to fitness as I am influenced and motivated internally and externally YouTube, instagram.Life change,I was very into football/soccer a few a years ago before this, maybe I might be over fitness just like I am over soccer. You know what I mean?Hopefully I am always keeping my fitness level to some degree though into the future
Can i include medical cost from injuries?
Well, I haven’t had to invest in unnecessary prescription drugs, preventable diseases, time off work, my car using more gas because I weigh more, OnlyFans because I can’t score a real woman, or special toilet seats designed for the obese, so there’s that.
It’s my third mortgage at this point.
As far as time? The gym is my church.
Oh geez, if I factor in THOSE costs…especially considering what insurance paid vs what I did, haha.
Haven’t paid for a gym in a over decade and my home gym is minimalist. Barbell, 1000lb of free weight and squat stands I inherited from my father.
Time? I guess average 5 hours a week for 18 years.
Thats no lie!
Hmm the cost of Body dysmorphic and regreat of un achieved potential?
PRICELESS!
Is body dysmorphia more dangerous to a person or progressing overloading to injury acute/gradual injury?
Of course if you only can pick one least dangerous to a human who works out?
If you are natural, I do not see this as a concern.
I am natural,I mean you can think otherwise.I have gotten herniated disc and recently knee injury.and had body dysmorphia 6 years ago for close to 5-6 month…hmm can it be explained even though that’s not my question
Actual body dysmorphia is a crippling psychological disorder. Unfortunately, it’s become trendy to co-opt it, like other disorders.
“LOL, I’m SO OCD: I HAVE to click a pen twice before I use it”
No Carol: you are, at best, quirky. You’d have OCD if, by not clicking the pen twice, you spiral into a fit of uncontrollable anxiety resulting in a panic attack that causes you to lose the ability to breathe and requires a strong sedative to keep you from jumping out a 4th story window.
A lot of lifters aren’t afflicted with body dysmoprhia: they’re simply unsatisfied with their physique. And a lot of those dudes SHOULD be unsatisfied.
Having been on ends of the physical and mental injury side of the coin: ALWAYS pick physical.
Injuries happen. I once tweaked my back putting on pants.
That was not body dysmorphia. Were you diagnosed?
My remark was partially tongue-in-cheek
It’s the past and I might be wrong but I was so anxious about the way I look and couldn’t move and look comfortably
Btw,if you guys are training routinely and hard sometimes you just want to be seen or shown your hardwork but don’t want to come off as proud or boastful to friends and family. Can give suggestion how to be seen your work and continue working humbly and silently without attracting too much unwanted and unhealthy attention?I am weak,I wanted to be seen sometimes like be rewarded haha
As my POV is I need to make sacrifice and hard work in order to continue maintaining my workout or if I get overly distracted and loose I might give fitness or working out sooner then later. So now I am thinking of ways to be seen anonymously so that I can maintain as long as possible until I pivot or give up in the future
Ok, so then what is your point/question?
“Why work out if I may develop body dysmorphia or get injured?”
Only you can answer that
