About $95 a month, for both me and my husband plus tanning, and then an extra $30 twice a year for equipment purchases. I think it’s something like $80 without the tanning. It sucks because our gym is SUPER tiny - we don’t even have an actual bench press, we have to use either a power cage or the smith machine (which thankfully most of the bro lifters use so it leaves the power cage free) - but it’s for Anytime Fitness so at least the equipment is nice and we can use it anywhere.
I havent paid my membership in like 3 years
Fuck that guy lol
I’ve never been one to take advantage of classes, babysitting, all of the various perks they try to sell you on at most large commercial gyms. With that said, to me, the price of “renting the weights” shouldn’t be more than $50/month. In the past, I’ve trained at places that run about $30-40 a month.
My current gym, which is amazingly huge, well equipped, and constantly maintained (baby sitting, free classes, juice bar locker rooms etc) is about $35 a month. Which makes me laugh when I hear how much some people pay for places that are unquestionably less equipped.
I will say though, that it’s in a fairly well off neighborhood, so I assume they could charge more, but I figure with the volume of clients they’re able to handle, the owners make out just fine.

$1000 for a lifetime membership to my garage. (I love when people sell their gym stuff on craigslist)
Power Rack
Bench
500lbs of plates
200lbs of rubber plates
2 oly bars
db handles that I can get up to 160lbs on
lots of bands
farmers bars
ez curl bar
rigged up a cable deal to the rack to do pushdowns, cable rows, etc…
You know that I train in my basement. It’s an investment I haven’t regretted making but then I’ve managed to score some kick ass deals like 800lbs in plates for $100. I don’t think I’ve invested more than $2,000 all told over the years (since 2009) If I hadn’t gotten them, I don’t know if I could have swung it. For time management it’s the best. I’ve done dishes, cut the lawn, folded laundry and helped with homework between sets.
The only real draw back was when we moved in the fall, every house was regarded with an eye for whether it could house the gym.
$0 a month (perks of being a part tmie employee)

I remember back when I was doing PT part time and not really digging it, instead of quitting, I kept one client I only saw a couple of times each week so I could ride out a free membership.
These days, it just costs me an 8x10 signed pic for the wall by the front desk

You’re assuming we all have options within a reasonable distance. But not all of us do.

I would love to have a home gym. But we don’t really have the space. Hope you are doing well, O.
$110 a month
But I get it free
I pay $75 a month but then again this gym allows chalk, has Texas Power Bars and log bars, monolift, racks, GHR, reverse hyperextension, sleds, tires, heavy dumbbells and above all half naked hot pussy walking around(and by this I mean fitness models). Its all good.
My dream gym is at Up’s house. She’s lives right at the end of my cul de sac. We train together, and she makes lunch afterward. Free haircuts are included.
No homo…well, maybe a little bit homo.
As it is, I have a great gym. I mile from the house so I frequently walk. University. The Mister works there. He pays $24 per month, and I get a half price deal as his spouse so $12 per month to add me. It’s perfect IF you train in the mornings like me. In the evenings, it’s packed with students and DBs and plates are everywhere. Huge facility. 4 squat racks, 2 Smith’s, 1 room full of Hammer Strength machines and free weights, 1 room full or cardio equipment, cable machines, and more DBs. No chalk. No OLY. No dropping the weights. No hot tub or sauna. Otherwise, it’s like a resort. Racketball courts, several basketball courts, indoor track, rock wall, Olympic pool, 5 studio rooms for classes. AND there were 6 women in there this morning lifting in the free weight section. Love it. College athletes, but more women are going to CrossFit, and coming back to their local gym feeling comfortable with weight training. The tide is turning, Snap.
I pay like 50$ for the dream gym, chains, bands, specialty bars, knowledgeable accomplished lifters , monolift, metal is usually on full blast over the speakers/subwoofer, chalk, oly lifts, body builders, sumo wrestler, strongman implements and stations ( stone loads, etc ), prowlers.
There’s free outside shirtless tanning for doing things like 1,000 pound tire flips…
Not much else for me to want
I paid $99 for the year at Planet Fitness, but half the time I work out at my work, where its free. And I don’t have to wait for a squat rack at work either.

You see, Joel, the thing is I don’t have to pay for it.
I’m fortunate that I work for a company who realizes we spend half of our yearly lives in the office. So we have two full size gyms to service 13 office buildings. We also have spin and other assorted classes, along with an out door basketball court. The greatest part of this is that this company is comprised of primarily engineers and IT professionals, so there’s not much competition for the racks. With that being said, I still prefer to lift at home in my garage. I can use chalk freely, play my music and not have to worry if I get caught crying after a painful set…
The gym that I would go to now if I didn’t lift at home would be the same one I grew up in. I’ve only ever changed when living out of state on a few occasions. The membership is right around $25 a month depending on your package.
Dream gym would be a the gym I grew up lifting in, just with no one there. Very spacious, only half the lights work, A/C is iffy at best, all the weights and equipment are banged up, chalk everywhere and it’s downstairs, so you feel like you’re in a dungeon. Also, since we’re dreaming, maybe some crossfitters to run around and grab my plates in those short shorts and knee high socks

Free homemade lunch?!?!? I’m changing my dream gym. I shave my head, so no haircuts required. Though, I’m willing to cut hair if any one wants to chance it.
$15.95 a week
