How Much Fruit a Day?

hey guys, i am a newbie here so take it easy on me. my question is about fruits, i did a search but it just confused me more. I have tried to clean up my eating habits, not on a diet just want to eat cleaner. How much fruit can u eat on a daily basis without it contributing to gaining bodyfat. i have been eating grapefruit, pineapple, and bananas everyday.

Just keep it below 19 pieces and you’ll be fine.

just eat them at breakfast and after workout. unless you eat like 20 you should be fine. and if you eat 20 oranges your stomach will start hurting from the acids so forget about the body fat.

.9 Banana.

(Seriously though, 2-5 servings depending on the type of fruit and time of day).

It depends on what other carbs are you ingesting. If you are eating rice, oats and bread then you will have to limit the fruit. If you eat few carbs fruits are ok…it is all about the complete picture.

The good old nutrition pyramid recommends 2-4 servings per day.

Anyways, pretty much what everyone else has said. Some with breakfast is always tasty, and some after a workout is a good idea. Just make sure you pay attention to total carb intake, that means bread/pasta/potatoes/etc. in conjunction with that fruit.

Of course the “good old nutrition pyramid” is crap but in this case it’s reasonable.

I eat at least 3. Sometimes more. Sometimes less. Depends.

I don’t know of anyone that has gotten fat from too many apples though. So eat all you want.

It really all depends on your goals. Unless you are in the final stages of cutting to get up on a stage, an extra cup of blueberries or a banana isn’t going to have much of an effect. As a newbie, there are probably other issues with your diet that need attention before you start worrying about overconsumption of fruit.

Ya, aside from fruits and veggies, the nutrition pyramid can go to hell. With vegetables, I would take it as a minimum. With fruits, it’s probably about right.
