Fruits when Dieting

Hello ladies and gents,
I decided to lean down and get rid of a few kilos of fat . Started my diet a week ago ( stopped eating all kinds of junk food, sweets, fizzy drinks ) . Should I be cautious of how much fruit I’m eating on daily basis ? I know that fruit has simple sugars, which rather than being directed into muscle is being stored in liver, and can turn into fat eventually.

Bear in mind, I’m not a bodybuilder, my goal is not a 5% body fat, but just a smooth, flat stomach. thanks in advance.
P.s. I train as a powerlifter.

The fiber content in most fruits, as well as the relatively small amount of fruit sugars isn’t as bad as some people mistakenly think them to be.

As long as you’re overall cals and macros are conducive to losing weight (fat) while still allowing you to train hard, you’ll be fine. I promise

Thanks Stu, if you are interested I can give some of my stats.
Height 194 cm or 6’3
Weight - 126 kg ( roughly )
For the past week my die at looks like this ( roughly ) :
800g chicken breast - 200 g protein 1200 calories
12 boiled eggs ( full ) - 70 g protein. 1200 calories ( very roughly, because different sources quote different numbers of calories per boiled egg )
1kg sweet potatoes - 200 g carbohydrates. 860 calories
1kg of vegetables.
In total 3260 calories, obviously not counting vegetables. Consider this, I’m an ectomorph, and once a sit down on a diet, I burn pretty fast, my priority, as you said yourself, is not to burn too much ( loosing muscle )
I know that I’m probably a bit low on protein, it works out just shy over 2g/ kilo body weight, so I have ordered some protein shakes, because I already eat 5 times a day, plus, meat is really expensive, especially when your a student ! What do you think about my nutritional outline ?

Any source of energy can end up being converted to fat, but there is no research that indicates fruit consumption has any other detrimental effects. In fact there is an inverse relationship between fruit consumption and the rate of diabetes which has led organizations such as the American Diabetes Association to distinguish between natural sugars and added sugars.

Not a big fan of banana’s when dieting.

My go to is grapefruit. I have great luck on curbing hunger and losing weight when adding grapefruit especially when dealing with night time cravings.

The standard is 1-3 servings/day when cutting. Specific fruits are different, though. Bananas contain a lot more sugar/carbs than something like watermelon or blackberries.

fruit is always good for you. we evolved on fruit its prob 1 of the best things you can eat. the sugar in fruit is much different then the sugar in a snickers bar.
