I am new to weight lifting and was wondering what an acceptable number of exercises per muscle group is adequate for each workout…for example 4 different exercises when working the chest on a particular day or should there be more…Thanx for the input…
That really depends what are your goals? For instance today for me its Max effort lower body i will likely do maybe two exercises squat and prob some GM’s. I guarantee spend 30-40 mins just squatting, or DLing, or benching, no need for much more on that day
let us know more of what your looking for. Never a bad idea to base your days on one or two big moves though

Hey Phil
What on earth is a GM? Sorry if that’s obvious but I’ve read a bunch of articles around here and it still doesn’t ring a bell.
Thanks

I am pretty sure he was referring to Good Mornings.
I second Phils advice of basing a workout around one or two major lifts.
As a beginner focusing on power lifts and strength as the foundation for gaining mass is always good advice.

Good Mornings
Always try and keep your workouts under 1 hour, any longer will be counterproductive to gaining muscle.
