How Many Chin-ups? Good Routines?

Before I could do muscle ups I just did slow rep to about the right angle and then would power as hard as i could for the second half of the rep and try and get has high as I could, try and touch my nipple to the bar.
At the moment I am chinning up to 32.5kg x 3 reps at bw70kg.
I switch between singles, triples and body weight max reps. My power days I do muscle ups.

I can do 20 but im quite light i think, i need to bulk up in general haha

Best is 16.

I used to do 0, but after doing a ton of push-ups and losing some weight, I could get 3-5, then quickly 8.

Started lifting and got stronger, then stayed pretty consistent at 12-14. When I added running in and leaned out further, I got 16. But that’s where I’ve been stalled at.

At BW, 20

I’m currently working on BW+45lbs for 5x5 (can’t quite finish off the last two sets yet)

I have no idea what a muscle up is.

I calla chin up when palms face away

and pull ups with palms face towards you

pull up and chin up are the opposite of what you put mate

I’m going to be going for the 50kg 1rm half way through next year.

I can do 25 pull ups, pretty wide too.

I remember about 3 years ago my max was 4 or 5.

I just always made pull ups a priority in the gym. i would super set them maybe twice a week, if i felt fresh.

Eventually i started using weights with them as well and that helped alot. I can do about 8 reps with 45 lbs. which aint too bad.

My best advice is to set yourself a session target of say 50 pull ups.

try to get 50 reps before you leave the gym, it can take 4 sets or 10 sets it dont matter, just keep trying to improve each time you try it again.

Also improve your grip and you will find it alot easier.

Good luck

Wow all these internet warriors putting out sets of 20+ chins in perfect form.

Formula for realistic chin numbers = I can do X / 2

I am interested in how many chin ups people can do. I am really focusing on increasing this. My max now is 8 which I know is weak compared to many of you.

Also I would be interested in seeing your chin up routines. Do you do as many as possible in a certain number of sets? Do you break it down into 5 sets of 5 and then increase the reps or sets when needed.

Thanks.
26 deadhangers is my max.

I have a chinning bar in the hallway going in and out of my house. As a rule, I can’t pass the bar w/o doing chins, a rule I gave myself. Sometimes I’ll go all out but many times just do some random number. This seems to help me.

Do a pull up into a press up all in one motion. I suck at these, mostly because I use a home chinning bar and don’t practice the move enough.

I’m going to put a bar stand outside, like in the Rocky Balboa movie to deal with this. That and GH work wonders!

The muscleup is a purely power movement when practiced on a bar. On rings is completely different, you dont need the speed because your wrists are already in the right position.

usually do 4 sets of 10-12 on back/biceps day

I can only do 2 (with 500lbs strapped to my waist)…

…I know what you’re thinking; that’s pretty pathetic only doing 2 reps

why bump a 2 year old thread?

Its_just_me - daaaang? only 2 with 500lbs?? thats weak

.greg.

Two year old thread. I’m dying to know if Kate the Great is still training. Zero Pullups to 22 in only 6 months and able to follow it with 16, 15, 15 with only 65 seconds rest. That’s freaking impressive. I’d love to see her back if she’s up to 40 or 50 pounds added for her sets.

Anyone here do muscleups? Their like a pullup and dip in one movement. Their supposed to be very helpful in climbing things like walls.
Did one for the first time 2 weeks ago about. Had never tried it before, fun shit.

Can do 22-25 chinups straight, at bw of 202 lbs.

What about handstand push ups? Does anyone do them and is there any point?

This was the only specific work I did to improve chin-ups. Other than that I just do weighted chins changing the grip position every couple of weeks.

damn, you are all kings and queens for chins and pulls.
anyone ever compare a weighted vest to a dip belt?
I have used a weighted vest and had problems with it irritating my skin at my delt chest tie in area so I went back to a belt/chain which is alot easier for changing the weight not to mention getting the vest on and off was a pain. I have also found that the stronger I get in weighted chins, the less I FEEL it in my lats, I do much better with a slower pull and more concentation using lighter weights. I worked up to a neutral grip pull up with 120 lbs x 3 and I think it works my arms and rear delts more than my lats.
