This seems to be dead thread now, buddy. But I have tight hamstrings, and my back curves when I pick up the bar. It isn’t perfectly horizontal.
just do a chest supported row instead
Bawhahahaha… Threads here are immortal until the ModGods decide otherwise. So…
How old are you? Male or female?
get over it… its not dead. Look how did you actually come up that you have tight hamstrings?
Could it be that possibly your not good at keeping tight and maintaining a neutral spine?
If it is a mobility/flexibility issue your better off addressing it through some mobility work.
The fact you can not do a Pendlay row at this stage in the long run amounts to nothing. At your current strength level it doesn’t really matter , its a simple row variation. Tons of people of gotten strong way before it came around. At most its a assistance movement at the end of the day.
Just row like Cailer Woolam.
The problem with rowing like is that The bar Still starts on the ground.
To do some rows,
Put the bar at waist height in the hooks.
Take the bar out, take 2 steps back.
Get your back set like you want it.
Lean over and row.
Here’s one of my favorite Olympians demonstrating.
It took me a while to warm up to the leaders myself, but once I decided to fully commit to running the leaders/anchors properly, I’ve been VERY successful with it. I wasn’t used to not pushing myself hard every day or week, but I rolled with it, concentrating on bar speed on the 5s Pro and the supplemental work (and choosing the right supplemental programs). I’ve set some big lifetime PRs here lately. I just pressed 250x3 on a joker set (at bw of 225 ish), despite never having a training max over 215. The 5s Pro really becomes a non issue if you’re doing a really challenging supplemental program with it.
I felt tightness when bending down. But I get you, it isn’t super important.
