How Come We Never See Huge Zercher Lifts?

Atlas stones!

My biggest issue with this thread is when people give their opinion on shit they have no experience with. It’s not unlike youtube trollers leaving comments about some lift they’ve never seen but automatically calling it a rediculous exercise. The unfortunate part of doing this is that many people read these comments and maybe turn away from a movement that might just be what they need to improve. A newb could read that zerchers are going to tear their bicep from some senior poster and take it for fact. I see that as being very irrisponsible. You will never catch me commenting on something i have no experience with. There are a ton of exercises out there that look unorthodox. how can anyone think that the zercher is rediculous but placing a bar across the collar bones is totally normal?? I’ve front squatted over 600lbs with the bar resting squarely across my collar bones. you can’t tell me that’s any less “crazy” than placing a bar in the crook of my arm and pretty much doing the same movement. the only difference is that front squats are a staple in both bodybuilding and powerlifting routines. suddenly activating more muscle groups into an already amazing movement becomes a dangerous and useless movement.

i think more people should stop and think before they post and remember who’s reading. It’s everyone’s responsibility to give helpful and informative advice and opinions. It’s okay to not know everything. Just don’t pretend to know everything.
This thread is now official finito. Pack up your amps, speakers, instruments, women, etc. and leave the saloon.
Aww, really push?

Surely you’ll forgive me for this post if I include a sure-fire way to get into Jamie’s pants, no?

“Hey there, Ms. Eason, I noticed you’re a fan of zercher squats. So am I.”

“Oh my! Your posterior chain must be strong! Fuck me, now!”

See, everyone, having sex with Jamie Eason is a direct result of doing zercher squats.

wait so which is it? Are strongmen & powerlifters training their biceps weekly or not?

the zercher squat is actually not a zig zag whatsoever. in fact, your back is very upright, and you learn to sit back and down while doing a zercher squat, or you and the weight will go over. and let’s not even talk about the average (bb or otherwise) squat form in the gym. it’s anything but a “straight line”, sans smith machine of course.
I read it that way at first too, but I think what he was saying is that a straight line would be an exercise that more effectively targets the legs, not that it follows a strange barpath.
almost 100% positive that the “zig-zag” comment ID made was in reference to the Video in the OP… where he picked the weight up from the floor, rested it on his knees, got it into the squat position AND THEN squatted it… ← That seems pretty “zig-zaggy” to me

My guess is that you would need to ask them individually. For the most part, few people train in the exact same manner.

Exactly. That’s one of the things I like about you Greg. Common sense. Oh… HeavyTriple was correct too.

And my comment earlier, to Stronghold (about being boring as fuck) was merely to express that although he’s just repeating what he said earlier, I’m too bored with this conversation to continue repeating myself as well.

In the end, exactly what happened to letting people train in thier own way and do thier own shit?? I mean, if you want to do zerchers, do zerchers. If not, then don’t. I guess live and let live just doesn’t exist on the internet.

On the other hand, the arguments make a lot of points that anyone reading can pick and choose what makes sense and who they think is credible and make a better decision on their value. Since we have a few different people with different goals duking it out, you can see how it aligns with your own.

This, along with what maraudermeat is why I’ve made an assload of posts in this thread.

Like MM said, no one knows who’s reading this, and it’s no surprise that many people take prof X’s word as gospel on a lot of things - I mean, he’s obviously a big dude - he just doesn’t know what he’s talkin about in this thread.

If I wasn’t here ‘defending’ the zercher lift and wasn’t pointing out how ridiculous it is for him to even begin to think that his opinion even remotely supported by basic facts, then there’s potential that said possible readers to completely dismiss zerchers when in reality, there’s no reason to.

There’s a term used for when “I’m bigger/stronger” is used as ‘proof’ that they’re right on a matter… it’s called ‘bro-knowledge’ and it’s the most ridiculous type of "knowledge"on the intarwebzzz.

Also, I PMed “stormthebeach” earlier and asked him to give his opinion on zerchers in this thread (while avoiding all the bullshit, obviously.) As the dude has proven himself to be one of the strongest people on this site, I’m really curious as to what he thinks of them.

Hopefully he’ll give his two cents.

Dude, IDK why you’re still dead set on curls. It’s obvious your right arm (the one that’s visible in your avatar) is your jerk off arm and your other arm is 13 inches around.

Stop acting like it was the curls that gave you that one big arm - it was the masturbation.
