Hey guys I am new here and looking for some advice.I am 18 years old and just started my freshman year in college. I have been lifting for over a year. When I started over a year ago I was 160 pounds…now I am 185 and 8.5( took this over 3 months ago) percent body fat.
I have been trying to bulk up as much as possible while still achieving a good diet.I am 6ft and have been working on dunking so I got some advice from someone at a local club to try the work out on here called “leap tall buidlings”.
So I have started that this week…my problem is I cant seem to see any differences in my body at all anymore. My chest, arms etc have looked the same for prob around 3 months. Can anyone give me a good workout plan that also includes the “leap tall buildings” and will have good gains?
Right now I am supplementing with cyto gainer for weight gain, and taking just plain whey during the day in between meals and stuff. You think I should me using anything else?
Last question…is it possible to loose body fat/cut while gaining weight? I am not running/ jogging at all ( just playing b ball for a warm up). Do you think running 3 or so times a week would help me loose fat and be able to see more and become more cut?
Sorry if it sounds like i am complaining but I am just getting frustrated.
First the mirror lies. Start taking weekly weights on the same day every week right in the morning (Post piss, pre food). And take and track measurements every couple months or so. Numbers do not lie, and will give you a better estimation of your progress than subjective looks in the mirror.

You should be using NOT cytogainer. Find a good protein powder (ala Metabolic Drive or Grow! found in the store here). I use grow, and I love it.
“weight gainer shake”
2-3 scoops of a good protein power
-2 tbsp natural PB
-1 banana
Well over 400 calories.
Other staple supplements everyone should use:
-Creatine
-Fish oil
-post work out drink if you can afford it
For beginners it is possible to loose fat and build muscle. You’ve been at it a while, so probably not. Pick a goal, work towards it. If that goal is to see abs, then your training and eating should reflect that.
Trying to loose fat and gain muscle at the same time is a recipe for stagnation and no progress. Pick a goal, work towards it. That doesn’t mean that a “bulk” has to be dirty or that you have to gain disgusting amounts of body fat, it means be smart.
My own personal experience is that I wasted far to much time trying to be skinny right in the beginning and made absolutely no progress. But in the past year of actually eating and pursuing strenght goals the progress has been unreal.

You’ve been doing this for less than a week and you’re worried that you haven’t seen any gains?
Hey, everyone wants results now! Not tomorrow. Not next week. But yesterday!
“Patience is a virtue young grasshopper!”
Even so, if he hasn’t noticed anything in three months, maybe he is doing something wrong (food intake not high enough, inadequate training). My guess is both.

I thought he’d said that he saw gains over the last 3 months. But not since he’s started the new program. But yeah, if he hasn’t seen gains in three months, then food is probably the answer.
haha no no…I just started that last week…I do not except any results yet, sorry if it sounded like that. I was talking about my previous work outs.
Do you guys think I should eat three meals and then supplement in 2 or 3 protien shakes in between. Its hard to eat several meals with classes and stuff. Anything easy like a protien shake seems like the best option.
Do any college students on here have any advice for food? my dinning halls hardly ever have good food…they sometimes have chicken breast, wings etc. but its pretty greasy.
I try to smuggle out sandwiches from my dining hall. Failing that, I load up with beans and whatever meat is available. The salad bar is fairly helpful, as is milk. Get in as many meals as you can and try the protein shakes, they certainly won’t hurt. Maybe mix in some milk with them.
another quick question…what is the difference between the Surge Workout Fuel…and the Surge Recovery?
im trying to put together good supplements/protien anyone have any good advice about what to put together…or were the links above good for everything I need?
schulace123, I graduated college last may, I know what you mean about eating healty in the school cafes or between meals with class and work. For me, it was about finding what works best. It took some time but after you get a routine down, its not bad. Get some of those snack size ziplock bags. Put a 1/4 cup of nuts or trail mix in a weeks worth of bags and u just have to grab and go. I always had water with me. Beefjerky is great too. I know I was able to eat in my classes so if meal time is comming up pack a lunch.

do you guys think it is necessary for me to be on creatine? I have heard that yes it works but as soon as you stop taking it you loose what you gained…Im not very informed on it it is just something I heard.

That’s not true, at least not for me. Creatine works, it’s not magic and nothing bad happens when you stop using it. Simple as that.
Flameout
Grow! Whey
Micronized German Creatine
SURGE Recovery
going to start that leg workout again soon…but I just got a MRI on my and I guess that I have a big sist in my knee…its very painful when I squat, so I think that Ill wait for a little on the heavy leg lifting unless someone has some advice.
