a friend of mine is having serious pain(tendonitis) in her hip-flexors. she used to hi the gym, then stopped, and continued only jogging. now though she has trouble jogging.
can someone suggest an article or two that might be useful in helping her out, or if u have a few seconds type out a few suggestions.
This has been discussed before. Do a search for “Hip Flexor Pain”. I just tried it and got numerous hits regarding hip and lower back pain. You should be able to find some helpful information.
Tell her to stretch her hipflexors, like doing the stretch where you pull your knee up to your chest. Also do the one when your in a lunge position and you kind of lean forward to stretch the back leg out. Another thing is she may need to work on the groin hipfelxor region, there was this one article I can’t remember the name of it but I had it pritned out when I needed to fix my hip flexors. It had movements such as like sideways jump squats and other things that were helpful to building up the hip flexor. What she could be feeling is scar tissue from something. Hope that helps.
Most likely scenario is that her hip flexors are chronically tight. Tell her to read Ian Kings article End Needless Knee Pain (of course, it focuses on knee pain but it discusses the hip flexors aswell).
