I was diagnosed with one when I was eleven… I was on all of that prescribed medication for a few years but stopped after it never really helped. What finally helped me, at least, was eating on a regular basis and eating fairly bland for a while. But what helped the most was definitely having consistency in my eating times and never skipping meals…
Well I have a nice little ‘self treatment’ for hiatial hernias.
Want to hear it? 'Course you do, lol.
Drink half a litle of water and then jump off a step/box, etc.
NOTE: You actually want to jump with the worst technique possible. In other words, land hard, not soft, to create a jarring impact. Relax the core, to reduce intra-abdominal pressure, to allow the hernia to reduce back into the abdominal cavity.
If this doesn’t work, drink another 0.5L and another if needed.
I used this on myself last summer and on a patient just last week.

How successful is the surgery for this? Why did you opt out of it and instead focused on diet?
At the time I was diagnosed I was told that the surgery would most likely be successful but I may never be able to burp again. At least that’s what my Dad told me the surgeon said… which may have been a load of shit meant to scare me because he didn’t want to pay for surgery…

Why would anyone opt for surgery, if diet can fix the issue?

If it’s a quick fix surgery, why would you want to struggle with something your entire life?
Digestive enzymes at each meal helped me. I also drink 8 oz of aloe vera juice a couple of times a day. The aloe helps sooth the irritation.
I may have one also, so sorry for the threadjack buuut
Does lifting aggravate a hiatal hernia? What I mean is, will the stomach push further into the diaphragm with heavy lifting?
