Hernias?

I was doing deads the other day and overextended at the lockout. I felt it immediately in my lower stomach. Now I’ve been feeling weird, dull pains all over my stomach, from right above my cock to as high as the bottom of my chest. No lumps or anything, but I’ve even felt a weird sensation in my nut sack.

Has anyone here ever gotten a hernia from lifting? How did you know you had it and what did you do?

If you deadlifted and you are in pain ANYWHERE in the groin area, get to a doc, especially since some hernias protrude into the scrotum.

deal with it now,

I got a hernia from lifting and it was a strange sensation. sort of a dull pain in the groin from time to time, though I could also feel a bump.

definintely go see a doc, the test is very simple and you should get it taken care of so it doesn’t get worse. unfortunately, if you do have a hernia, that probably means surgery. I had laproscopic surgery done in early January 2010 and was hitting new PR’s on the deadlift by March or April.

I have hernia, i got it the way you described dead lifting. I need the laproscopic surgery and i want to share my advise.

I don’t have a tear though. I have a partial tear. Depending on your body fat and tear degree you may only feel a fluid build up. If not that you have to use symetry. Feel one side of yoru body then the suspected area. If the tauntness is different you may have a partial tear. One side on my body feels like elastic the other feels different.

Its questionable when i got this. I think it was first in a submission grappling practice where a guy 80 pounds bigger then me did a move and i felt a tear. I lived though that but dead lifting in October of last year i def hurt it dead lifting and was diagnosed with it.

Get to a DR and get your surgery.

Since you been active, you have 24 hours until you are driving, 72 until you are walking, a week until you are jogging and a month until you are lifting at full strength. I didn’t get my surgery right away for a few reasons. I wanted to finish school healthy. It was winter and i didn’t want complications shopping for food, slip and fall in the ice or snow, or cold weather complications.

Its spring nearly summer so you don’t have any of those problems. I been safe but that means inactive for 6 months and counting. Any and all fitness levels i had are now gone. Every trainer could benefit from a month off now and again. Its better you do it now. Of you go from strong and healthy, to surgery, then come back in a month the body you have doesn’t have much time at all to atrophy. You don’t have much time to put on body fat. Your muscles aren’t going to weaken and the rest will be therapeutic. Small tears, over worked joints, lingering inflammation all has a chance to heal. If you do like i did and bench your self for 6 months you’ll get depression, lazy, body fat accumulation, and worst of all. Complacent.

Rush to get the laproscopic surgery then after 72 hours take to 1 month of swimming at the local gym and your rehab will be complete. The swimming will keep your muscles working in a therapeutic environment compared to the stress of lifting weights. You have everything to gain by not doing what i did.

I fight. Not only did i lose 6 months of skill work. I lost all my cardiac condition, my lactic acid thresh hold is shot and ALL my reflexes are gone. I don’t have the habits i once had and that is the hardest part.
I tried to run. i used to run for 30 mins. I went 2 tenths of a mile and lost focus. Fatigue meant lost motivation and i boarder line depression every time i see a fight. It even effects my confidence.

Now i gave you this long spheel cause there is a lot to lose that you don’t see. I hope i helped you see that side of it. I"m weak, 24% fat, have no cardio capabilities, lost all my fight reflexes, power, and calculation ability that goes on in a fighters mind while prepping for combat. What ever you personally do, you will sacrifice as time goes by. Be it form, strength, recoverability, stamina, Will to train, and weekly habitual schedule.

You snooze you lose

Shit I was squatting today and felt it a little bit where my groin attachs to my pelvis then it shots up to like 4-5 inches below my belly button…it hurts REAL bad like 1-2 minutes after the set but after that its just only sore…go see the doctor or just take time off?

Yes, just got diagnosed today. Having surgery next week. Upright rows and felt a small sharp pinch in growing area. Didnt get any better for two weeks so bit the bullet and went to Doc today. She put her finger over the area and had me cough and felt the inner wall pushing out. Go get it checked. Had several friends say it is a easy procedure and back in the gym in less than a week.
