Help With Parents and Supps

That is exactly what happened. I have used Muscle Milk. There isn’t a damn thing wrong with it. If this kid was acting like a know it all while his dad was even attempting to help out, he is now being punished for it. Get over it. My parents didn’t help me AT ALL. Any protein I bought was my own and I had to hide that under my bed. That is why I made NO PROGRESS until I moved out and went to college. From that point on, I gained about 100lbs. This kid has the benefit of a parent even partially involved in training and he is complaining?

Bottom line, you are spoiled little bitch who has a dad who tried to at least help you a little and you threw it in his face. For anyone to act as if his dad is obligated to help him with bodybuilding, you may also be a spoiled bitch. Get the fuck over it and get a job.
I have a job and I pay for EVERYTHING. He doesn’t allow me to buy my own stuff. Stop saying I’m a spoiled little bitch I don’t get jack shit except what I need. I would call that supportive (and I thank him for everything) and defenitly NOT spoiling. I didn’t throw anything in his face, you’re just making a typical adult assement of the situation I gave you and you turn against the younger person in the fight just like every other adult.

OK … I am trying to calm my nerves. I don’t know how I will be able to sleep tonight.

Child abuse? I can’t believe people are letting a 15 year old kid get away with this crap on this board. Child abuse because his dad didn’t buy him the specific protein he really really wanted? Dear Lord, what next, an X-box 360 the wrong color…or worse, a game that isn’t the hottest seller in the store? This board is filled with pussies lately.
Oh keep on thinking that. Like I said in my last post, unless I need it severally, I don’t get it. I don’t have an Xbox or anything of the such except my computer, and I’m not an ingrateful little fuck like you think I am. If you knew anything about me you would no I am the very grateful, and respectful kid. And to that you’ll respon, “Oh yeah Mr. High and Mighty”, or something to that effect.

Take that and your 100 pounds and shove it up your ass.

What is wrong with fucking dicks like you? Just because you’re older than me doesn’t mean I throw “tantrums”. Stop talking to me like I’m a baby and get over your power -trip.
Hey man, you are acting like a fucking baby. I mean, just fucking eat a lot, sleep a lot and lift big weights. Stop being a little bitch because you don’t always get what you want, if your dad won’t buy the specifc stuff you want or take you to the gym as often as you want, use all your fucking “smarts” and do something about it, or maybe…just maybe you aren’t as fucking perfect as you think you are…

Tough shit bud, deal with it

You’re 15, like it or not, you’re going to need your dad to help you out quite a bit over the next few years. I’d work on improving your relationship with him before demanding specific supplements and foods.

Be a man, show him some respect before you expect him to do the same for you.
Don’t even try making jusdgements about my relationship with my dad. We have a really good relationship and actually spend time just hanging out and doing things together around the house. I’m not like other teenagers who are total assholes to there parents, but I did overblow the scene that I wrote in my original post.

This is true. At 15, a protein shake isn’t even necessary. Unless this kid is weighing over 200lbs, there is no doubt he can get enough of what he needs from food alone.

The problem is, us itty-bitty kids can’t even drive yet, so we can’t go get food for ourselves at the grocery store. Therefore we are confined to whatever our parents buy us. Or the shit at the cafeteria. Sometimes my parents bring home great food, chicken, steak, salmon, etc., but most of the time it’s to feed 4 people instead of 1. It’s nice to have a protein shake to bump up my protein intake…
Well if itty bitty kids cant drive yet, its called a bus, or getting a ride unless u dont have buses. I get around using public transport still to this day, because its either a car or an education, and I chose education, the car will come later. I still find a way to get what I need.

At 15 you dont need even much protein, you younger guys talk like you have been training for years, you need to HIT THE GYM, and EAT. Eat what you are given, and if you train enough you will be hungry, than ask mommy and daddy for something to eat cuz u are hungry.Everyone has been your age before and dealt with the issues you are dealing with, make the best with what you got.

I myself have never seen one serious 15 year old training in any commercial gym since I started, over 4 years, all I see them doing is chatting to their friends. Protein aint gon’ do it for you. Stop whining and get ur scrawny ass in the gym and do some real training.

C’mon guys…he’s 15. He already knows everything there is to know about anything. Truth of the matter is this and has already been mentioned: at 15 your body is a mobile testosterone factory, most of us older guys would love to have your natural T levels right about now. If you’re eating a clean diet and lifting smart as often as you can then chances are you’re on the right track.

The only reason I would recommend a protein supp would be if you’re having a hard time getting enough calories from real food (or if portabiltiy of said food is problematic) Just because you’ve got your head set on some Surge doesn’t mean Daddy has to buy it for you or even let you buy it for yourself. The olive oil thing sounds a little strange…if Pops is really one of the Soy-boys then he should already being buying EVOO like everyother good yuppie.

Perhaps you and Dad could sit down and do some research on-line together on a fact finding mission about Olive oil, Omega 3 and 6, creatine…etc and maybe you’ll change his mind.

Ok the thing I just said were harsh and I apologize, but I was just made because you guys were right. I do need to work on respecting him towards what he says, and I will start doing so.

I didn’t mean to sound like a whiney little bitch and I know I don’t need those things. It just sucks because where I live I have friends that own there parents and there money, so it’s hard to have a dad with the money to buy you the cool things your friends have, but is actually doing the right thing. I realize that is total bullshit because I make fun of them for being spoiled so in all reality I like that my dad is helping me become independent and I know it WILL help me alot later in life, while my friends are 40 and still at their parents house.

You’re all right, I’m just gonna shut up and take what I can and make the bast of it.

Thanks for helping to open my eyes up to this.

PS: I do have a really good relationship with my dad though as I said.

 1. What if I live in a suburnban community that doesn’t have a bus system? Walk? Yeah, the fucking 10 miles to the grocery store.

 2. Young kids don’t need protein? What is this bullshit? Our entire bodies are growing, doesn’t that mean we would need even more, since protein (after all) is the main building block of all our major organs and muscles? Sure, everyone’s been here before, but were they training?

Thats because you live in fucking Canada.

All kidding aside, I actually train. I’m not one of those dumbasses that come to the gym and shoot the shit with all their friends.

No one said kids don’t need protein…what was said was that they dont need a protein supplement if they are getting enough protein from a clean diet…

reading is fundemental

Well as I said before I kind of misread the original post, I had the impression his dad bought the protein powder for HIS OWN USE, and wouldn’t let the kid have it.

But the dad got it for him, so he obviously doesn’t object to helping out.

Also I found it really, really, really weird that olive oil was not allowed?

The whole thing is very strange. The dad uses soy, so maybe he has some different slant on things: don’t get too musclebound, don’t have too much protein, oils make you fat, fish oils have mercury, too much gym work will affect your basketball - who knows.

I also wondered if money was a problem, but apparently not.

You cannot blame the dad for buying musclemilk if he a) didn’t know the brands available and b) picked the cheapest or “best value” looking one and c) didn’t know the kid had a different preference.

But it is the olive oil that is weirdest to me.

why is it banned?

at 5’10" and 125 lbs your main concern should be overall calories…

you need to eat ALOT more calories…

as far as protein requirement goes you should shoot for a minimum of 125 grams up to 145 grams…no need to eat any more grams of protein than 20 over your current body weight…

as far as the list of items you have…the only thing that I would consider essential is the olive and fish oil…the other stuff is nice but WAY overrated…

look up some articles on the internet showing the value of olive and fish oils …print them out and show them to your dad…be polite while you’re doing it…

if you only go to the gym twice a week make sure to do your lower body work (squats, deadlifts, ect…) on those days…

you can do things like pushups, situps, and chinups at home on the days that you can’t go to the gym…

let me state the most important thing for you now one more time…EAT MORE FOOD!

good luck!

Okay, so I’m 15 and I am really into good nutrition, and weightlifting and I am also an athlete (basketball and track). My dad is the metro-soy-boy-yo-yo dieter guy at your gym do bi curls in the squat rack.

So, the other day I was drinking my homemade PWO shake (since I “can’t have Surge”) and we start talking about PWO. So I’m like “dad you have absolutely no idea what PWO is” and he thinks he knows his shit so the next morning, we’re getting ready to hit the gym and he grabs a pre made Muscle Milk and drinks HALF of it. And so I asked “WTF was that for” and he responds “my RECOVERY”!!! SO basically you get the idea, he is as stated above.

Well, we ran out of protein powder and so he goes and buys some and comes back with MUSCLEMILK, and I start getting all pissed at him and he talks about how I am really overboard about nutrition and I need to relax. So now I have nothing for PWO and I have a POS prt. powder. He also refuses to let me take:

Creatine
Surge
Prt. Powder other that before/after my workout
Olive Oil
Fish Oil (I sneak out and buy it and hide it)

And he basically just makes fun of everything that I eat and when I eat it.

My ? is, do you guys know how I can get him to let me take the ealier mentioned things?
Does anyone else expieriencing parenting like this?

And also, he makes up every excuse in order to get out of taking me to the gym (even though he goes every morning). He says in the afternoon he’s “working” when in reality he is checking e-mail and watching TV, so now I only get to go 3x a week sometimes only 2x.

Please help.
Wow. I wish my dad bought me muscle milk when I was 15. In fact, I wish he’d buy me some right now. I have to pay for my own. I guess my dad is the real jerk.

My advise - get a job, buy yourself some whey and some dextrose, and be happy you live in America where the only problem you have is that your dad buys you muscle milk.

What a joke.

Holy shit, this kid is 125lbs? Anyone that tells him he needs a protein supplement is full of shit. At 125lbs, it shouldn’t take much effort at all to get in enough food to grow. Having a dad who goes to the gym and even buys supplements at all puts this kid way ahead of most people.

yeah…

without a doubt, this kid isn’t eating anywhere near enough food…even Paris Hilton is around 135 lbs…

food is way more beneficial than any supplement…

Oh I guess I haven’t updated my profile…I’m now up to 150, but yeah I know what you’re saying.

And the olive oil thing is odd to me too, but it’s not every day you see a kid trying to down olive oil in a shake or out of a spoon. I’ll just start adding it to salads and veggies to be sneaky…

Oh and I don’t take creatine, and I know that I won’t for a while because like I said, I’m only 150 pounds and I am still working on just using food and protein powder. I’m sorry I’m so small but 3 hours of basketball everyday followed by homework really gets you. I started the season at 140 and dropped to 117, my own fault. I figure I would be nearing 170 :frowning:

If you dropped that much weight that fast, your overall calories should be your major concern, not protein supplements. I think we are all glad you have gained some weight, but you are focusing on the wrong shit. It shouldn’t be difficult to get everything you need from food alone at your weight.

Yeah I know, like I said earlier, I was just overblowing the case. However, I do think that fishoil/olive oil, are important for everyone. I think that my gains have been largely helped by drinking my shake PWO, but that’s the only thing that i take other than the 2 thinngs stated before.

And I have obviously increased calories. I thought I was eating alot during basketball and now I have to eat over 4200 calories a day to gain slowly. It’s my metabolism which is a blessing and a curse.

Try an even sneakier approach. A 6 oz can of tuna has over 35 grams of protein and costs 75 cents. Maybe your dad would spring for them. A roast beef or turkey breast sandwich with 1/4 lbs of meat has about 25 grams of protein, and with a little finesse your mother might make them. Sixty grams of protein for free.

To say nothing of the iron and creatine both beef and turkey contain.

You seem to have a problem hearing adults say you’re a whiny bitch. So take it from a 16 year old: you’re acting like a whiny bitch.
