Ive lost a lot of fat, following a mostly high protein low carb diet, but im still trying to get leaner, while at least retaining my current muscle and strength.
I figure i might should up the carbs a bit, after reading about carbs fueling muscle.
Are there certain carbs that are less likely to turn to fat?
What are some good carbs that could be added into a protein shake?
here is what I do personally. only fruit/honey mostly. typically I mix it my 50g hydrolyzed whey shake with coconut water, 1 banana and honey. maybe some orange juice. great pre-workout. i personally avoid anything like oatmeat, rice, grains etc. just don’t feel good after eating this.
workouts are great, and I lost 20lb in the last 4 months with a meat/fruit approach. did keto back a while for 6+months but i think it is garbage overall for weight lifting
Side note, I really like that orange colored rice like at Mexican restaurants, and I do eat that sometimes. Not actually sure, what kind of rice that is?
What you’ll need:
1 cup long grain white rice
1/8 small onion
1 clove garlic
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1 3/4 cups water, divided
1 tsp Knorr caldo de pollo
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp corn oil
In a blender or food processor, puree tomato paste, onion and garlic with 1/4 cup water.
In a medium heavy bottomed saucepan, heat corn oil over medium-high heat. When it’s hot, add rice. Cook, stirring constantly, until golden brown and smells toasty.
Add tomato paste puree to rice and cook, stirring constantly 1 minute.
Add in remaining 1 1/2 cups water, caldo de pollo and salt. Bring to a boil.
Once boiling, cover, turn heat down to lowest possible setting and simmer 20 minutes. Do not lift lid!
When 20 minutes is up, turn heat off, lift lid to release excess steam and heat and recover. Let rest 10 more minutes.
When 10 minutes is up, fluff rice with a fork and serve.
Alright thanks. The meat i eat the most of is lean beef. Typical dinner for me right now would be about 1 lb of lean beef, raw broccoli, and a cup of greek yogurt, for example.
I haven’t used an app to do it, i have been just adding stuff up and keeping track in my head some.
But yeah ill look for an app. If i go to a Mexican restaurant and eat fajita steak and peppers, i dont know the exact macros on something like that though.
My thing is im trying to figure out what fat i can cut back. I already prepare meats by grilling and using no oil.
