HELP - Shoulder Paralysis

I am experiencing shoulder Paralysis. I had a stiff neck for around 2 weeks. My neck started getting better my right arm felt really weak. I thought maybe i had pulled something… Well its been 1 week now and i can hardly raise my arm above my head with my own power. The weird thing is there is NO pain involved. I dont see the Doctor until tuesday. Has anyone ever experienced something like this, or have any insight to what i may have done? I dont recall doing anything at the gym last week, and i cant even workout now!. It really sucks and has me worried now.

FE, I had something similar happen to me about 3 yrs ago. Basically,I caught someone who was falling from above me and my shoulder was wrenched way back, it ached a little , but no big deal, by the next morning I had some paralysis…ANYWAY, go to a sports medicine specialist (one that actually works out)have an MRI done, and do not have any surgery done without a 2nd opinion. Mine turned out to be a bad sprain, the swelling was pressing on a nerve causing some paralysis. Rest, anitinflamitories, and a little P.T. to tighten up stretched ligiments and I am now doing more weight than I used to.

I had a similar trouble with my knee. It’s frustrating when you can’t recall anything that would cause such an injury, because everyone asks. Anyway, I had ART, MRI (nothing abnormal), antinflamatories and Physical Therapy (ultasound and exercises with electric stimulation). It took about a month for it to come around to almost normal. Still can’t run more than 100 yards on it though…but I’m sure it will be perfect in time. Good luck!

Oh, I forgot to post something VERY important. I believe my paralysis problem was associated with some kind of nerve impingement. I used to ‘hang’ my leg off of a step for several minutes and my boyfriend would give my foot a good steady pull downward. I would feel a very deep stretch and shake it around a bit. It was like something knotted up was untangling. I did this about 20x a day (no joke) and it slowly started to feel like the other leg.

I don’t know how that would translate to the shoulder, but it wouldn’t hurt to gently experiment with several positions. I believe it was the ART and the hanging stretches that did the most in fixing the problem.

I thought i would post what happend. The Doctor says i have bicepital tendonitous. He did some probing and hit a tender spot. Hurt like hell. Hopefully i can recover soon.
