Hi, am 17 , 5’8 and weigh 170lbs. I have been lifting for 6 months, used to weigh 142 and now weigh 171. When i started my body fat was around 17% and now after 6months , the calculator at my gym measures my fat at 12%.
Now i dont beleive that my body fat might be around 12 because i have read and heard that you get visible abs when you get close to 12%, where as i have a lot of fat on my stomach. So if you could help me, it would be great.
Thanks.
I would say try to use a few different types of test for measurement.
Also, using a caliper, with a multiple point test would be good.
“Visible abs” is not a valid test of body fat.
You should post more pictures, with better quality for an accurate assessment of your body.

Oh thanks for the advice
I have tried all other calculators but calipers are not available at my gym.
We can’t help you unless you are holding your shoe
Who cares?
Honsetly, what would anyone on here telling you your exact body fat percentage do for you?
If you feel you are at an acceptable level, that’s ALL that matters. If you feel you are too chubby, lose fat. If you feel you still have a good cushion left to gain some fat along with some muscle, push onward.
I get it, I used to want to know my number too, but believe me knowing your body fat percentage gives you absolutely NO useful information. For the sake of shits and giggles, lets just say 12%.

Nah man he’s definitely not 12%, more like 13%.
You can purchase a caliper online for very cheap.
