Help Finding PL Comps in England

Hi, I’m new to powerlifting and really want to start competing. Does anyone here know of any competitions in England being held in the near future? I’d be competing at 100kg and I’m 17 if that makes any difference. Somewhere close to London would be convenient but I don’t really mind travelling too far - as I can’t wait to get my feet wet in a competition. So is there anyone here competing in the UK, and able to help me out?

Many Thanks

dansack

try your local PL federation. check their website.

The BPC and GPCUK have combined recently, so for multiply your looking at one of their combined meets or BPO, who have like 1 a year IIRC. Or there is the UK IPF affiliated fed, I cant remember the name though, used to be BAWLA.

There is a meet in just under 3 weeks, 18th of July in Ruislip (NR Wembley) a BPC/GPCUK meet. Contact Dave ‘Bulldog’ Beattie through Genesis Gym or through PLUK. There is also another meet, the UK Open, which is usually held at the end of September at the same venue as the upcoming meet. There are also meets early in the year (Feb/March time) in Windsor run by the Gallery Gym and a South East Qualifier run by Hirep Gym in Folkestone around April time.

PLUK will be your best bet, as will training at Genesis if you live in London!

Depends if you are raw/equipped/drug free/etc

Assuming you are raw and drug free then the BDFPA is your best bet, failing that the GBPF. Both have websites with lists of comps and dates.

Yeah, I was planning on competing raw. I’ll look into all of these feds now. Don’t think I’ll be able to make it to compete in the one in Ruislip - sidewalkdances. But does anyone think it’d be a good idea to go along to watch?
thanks for the responses so far they’ve been a huge help. And I’ll make sure to see if i can get to Genesis Gym.

Since you are competing raw then probably not, equipped lifting and the judging in equipped meets is very different. Id advise getting along to a BDFPA/GBPF meet (GBPF is the IPF affiliate and as such allows single ply gear but you can lift under their rules raw and they have en unequipped nationals).

Ok, with all the information i’ve gathered over the past few days, I decided to go for the GBPF for the moment and hope to be competing in a meet they’re holding at the end of August. Can’t wait, so excited for it.

Thanks again to everyone for making finding a competition so much easier
