Help Choosing a Power Rack

I’m looking to spend in the 400-600 range. I’ve looked at a couple different things. I’m not sure how external links work on this site (if they’re allowed or not) so I’ll name the ones I’ve looked at:

Valor Athletics Inc. BD - 5 Safety Squat / Bench Combo Rack (312 w/ shipping and has plate post for storage)

PowerLine PPR200X Power Rack (289, has chin up bar)

Deltech Fitness Power Rack/ Squat Rack (415)

Bayou Fitness E-Series Power Cage (14 gauge) (550)

Powertec Power Rack Workbench (Black) (575)

I don’t make a ton of money so those really nice 1k+ racks are just out of the question for now :frowning:

Out of those, which would be good? Or are there better in that price range that I haven’t found? Mostly I’ve looked on Amazon (free shipping is a major point with these things).

This is what I have:

Whatever one you find on Craiglist.

Seriously. I’ve spent MAYBE $400 on gym equipment, and I have 700+ lbs of weights, a decent power rack (with a cable pulley system) and 2 oly bars. Spent maybe $300 more on other things, but I don’t “need” those things, they’re just good to have. You can get plenty out of $500 if you’re patient and pay attention.

I snagged mine off CraigsList for $200. It’s a TDS. Basic, but solid. Couldn’t be happier.

I bought one off amazon for 300 4 years ago, but only because I couldn’t find one near me on craigslist. Look on craigslist first, you don’t need anything fancy just get the cheapest one that looks like it won’t fall apart. You don’t need 80 different height settings or the latest technology, you just need something that can hold weight and not let you get crushed.

I know people on here have made one out of wood…I wouldn’t recommend that unless you really know what your doing, but it goes to show you you don’t need a 1000-2000 rack

I seriously considered this. Just for the awesome factor. Only thing that stopped me was the thought of transporting the damned thing when moving.

hope this helps. depending on needs and size, we just had our local welder build us one. way cheap and

he was able to eat…usa produced locally : )

I’ve been hoping to score one on craiglist for 4-5 months now. I got some plates so far but that’s all the weight lifting equipment I’ve seen on our local craigslist :frowning: We’re a small city, maybe that’s part of it?

Frankly at this point I’m leaning towards the open rack; seems solid, and it’s affordable…no chin up bar though :frowning:

Just get the “Powerline,” looks fine to me
