Does anyone else have low grade headaches after starting TRT? I’m beginning week 12 and I’ve developed headaches for the last 7 days that seem to come and go. Are there nutrient deficiencies associated with TRT that can cause headaches? My blood test show numbers within normal ranges and my blood pressure is 120/62.
I’d say don’t assume it is TRT at this point then. It is very common when someone starts a medical treatment that the associate any negative changes with their body to that treatment. I understand the thinking (new variable, therefore it is the cause), and it is often correct. The issue is that it isn’t always correct. In logic that type of reasoning is called “Post hoc ergo propter hoc”. It means since Y happened after X, that Y was caused by X. It is considered one of the most common logical fallacies.
To be clear, I am not saying TRT didn’t cause your headaches. Just that it is tough to be certain of it at this point.
Has there been any other changes in your life? Stress, change in diet or exercise (or have you lost weight), supplements, meds, alcohol?
One more thing that makes me think it isn’t necessarily TRT is that the headaches started at week 11. I’d think you’d see it sooner if it was causing the headaches.
I’d also try to get plenty of BP measurements. Make sure you are confident in the measurement technique and the monitor (some are crap).
Hopefully others chime in with their thoughts. Good luck!
Low iron can cause headaches. Your hemoglobin isn’t where I would expect to see it given your testosterone nearing 1000! Without iron, you can create enough hemoglobin.
