What was your reasoning for switching to the high bar squat as opposed to the low bar position?
What was your method of building your high bar squat to even or above your low bar squat?

You certainly came to the right person to ask about squatting, csulli isn’t called the Squat Goat for no reason.
@Csulli: What happened to perfecting your positions in the DL/SQ? Seems like you threw that away and got back to lifting with crappy form again. Less meathead and more professional Chinese wightlifting attitude!
I haven’t posted a squat video since the meet. My form is exactly the same on squats as it has been for months, which is vastly improved from where it started.
My deadlift is what it is lol. I’ve tried for a long while to get some kind of perfect lat, hamstring, lower back setup whatever the fuck and it’s resulted in my deadlift being the exact same for like a year and a half. So yes, fuck it. I just need to get my back stronger anyway. There’s no magical technique or position that’s gonna give me another 50lbs on my deadlift. I’m just going to train deadlifts hard and muscle myself the whole goddamn way.
And btw I use the Chinese weightlifters’ bodybuilding system all the time: “6 sets till failure or boredom.” Ancient Chinese secret to gains right there.

lol, Csullinator needs proper glute control to keep those cheeks pinned to the bench.
What I need are ass implants.

Nice training sessions lately. Have you picked out another meet?
I looked the other day. It will be probably May or so of next year at the earliest.
WTF M8?! That’s a long time between comps!
See the thing is I enjoy training 10000x more than competing. I’m not one of those guys who actually enjoys powerlifting competitions simply for what they are. Some guys see it just like any other sport where they’ll go play a game (do a meet) and do their best. And they play as often as they like. Personally though the only real reason I do meets is to legitimize my lifts. And I have no interest in going to a meet just to set a 10lb total PR or something. I wanna go set like a 50lb deadlift PR ya know? Just as soon as my deadlift goes up I’ll do one so that I can beat my friend Sammy’s deadlift and total. Fucking Sammy.
Oh man it’s been too long since I’ve actually done the press. Like months and months. Glad I could still hit BW (barely, that rep was atrocious), but I’ve got a lot of work to do on it. I’m gonna start all my chest/shoulder/tricep days with either press or log press. I want to focus on some more shoulder strength.
Arnolds:
4 sets of 8-10 w/ somewhere around 40’s or 50’s
Lateral Raises:
worked up to some cheat reps w/ 50’s and then ran the rack back down
Incline Chest Machine:
3 sets of 10
Flat Chest Machine:
3 sets of 10
Decline Chest Machine:
3 sets of 10
Dips:
3 sets of 25
I kinda cut things short. I was at a different gym with my sister, and I spent more time helping her on some things so I didn’t really get to hitting my triceps and all that very much.

im not competing until spring either because of life stuff, but it doesn’t bother me too much because i like training a lot more than i like competing. Competing frequently could be fun but I would just burn out mentally.
on another note, i need to make my shoulders suck less so I can strict press without my them imploding for the next week.

What’s up Csulli? Are you taking a break from powerlifting/strongman training, or just kind of going on an accumulation phase type of thing? Also, awesome deadlift challenge video (the singles with 405 against Chia). How long did it take you to complete that? It looks like noon when you start, and night when you end.
I’m taking an offseason. My diet is very on point, and I’m going to do a good long bodybuilding phase to see if I can add some additional muscle mass and generalized strength. I’m still focusing on upping my deadlift though. I’ve upped my volume, frequency, and intensity on deads. That’s been plateaued for way too long now.
Also I’m gonna focus more on shoulders and pressing than bench for a while. I’ve got a lot of room for improvement in that regard strength wise.
I think that deadlift challenge only took about an hour but it was really cool, because we started kinda right before the sun was about to go down.
Sounds cool. I think I’ll start my journey up to 200 once I know I don’t have Mono (it’d kinda be stupid to try to gain weight when I can neither train safely or have much energy to do it properly and have the fucking abysmal appetite I have).
If I do enter the meet as planned, I’ll probably go enter a strong man comp the proceeding November, and just swap out my body day on the cube method (if the cube method works out as well/better than my conjugate training) with an event day, and bench day with a overhead press day.
Also, yeah, you started the challenge at the perfect time.

That sounds awesome. I’d love if I could get my overhead strength to a point where I could make a run at some strongman comps.
Deadlift:
135 5x
225 5x
315 3x
405 3x
455 1x
495 4x PR; I been after this one for a long while now. Really excited that I made this.
405 5x
405 5x
405 5x
405 5x
405 5x
Pullups:
5 sets of 15
Incline Chest Supported DB Rows:
85’s for 3 sets of 10
Grip Stuff:
loaded hub lifts and pinch lifts
sledgehammer levers
