I also enjoy lifting in and of itself.
To me, they are one and the same. I lift to get bigger and stronger. I get stronger and bigger by lifting. But the actual process of lifting, yeah, I like that.
Everyday when I wake up, I can’t wait to lift. I can’t help it. You might say this because I’m young… right now I have a stress fracture on one leg, a strained calf on the other leg, a lower back that’s still recovering from strained ligaments, joint problems in my wrists and elbows… and I don’t care. I do what I need to do to fix those problems, but regardless, I love to fucking lift.
Granted, some lifting is funner than others. After competing in Olympic lifting for quite some time, I find other lifting… less exciting, in comparison. Sometimes, it’s almost boring, sitting there on your ass doing a preacher curl. Maybe some of you who don’t enjoy lifting (other than for the fact it gets you bigger and stronger) need to venture out and learn how to do heavy ass cleans and snatches.
I will quote a recent interview between Poliquin and Pat Mendes (best super heavyweight Olympic lifter):
Poliquin: What do you like most about weightlifting?
Pat: I like how it’s just you versus the weights. The individualism. The constant struggle. The monotony. I love how 180 weighs 180 every single day. I like how it’s simple and it’s purely objective. It doesn’t matter what it looks like. You lift more than the other person and you win. There’s no subjectiveness there.[/quote]
Yeah I think it’s different with Olympic lifting than bodybuilding.
I LOVE the sensation of doing a good snatch or a good jerk. There is nothing like it. It’s all about the lift. I look forward to it everyday. I have to set a timer and make myself move on from snatches because I get so caught up in chasing a max that I won’t have anything left for squats or cleans.

and I love the sensation your avatar gives me. Jesus Christ!
