Haven't Found a Routine for Me

I’ve been working out I say for probably 4 years. When I was in 8th grade I started lifting weights and kinda took a year off and then got back into it sporadically. But seeing as beach season is coming up and I’m about to head to college, I really wanna change. I’ve been looking around and doing my research but haven’t found a routine that works for me.

I’m looking to increase size and strength and to lose body-fat. I know that I won’t lose weight necessarily. But right now I just go do every machine in the gym that I can until I do just about every one. Right now I weigh about 225, and probably have body fat in at least upper 20% probably in the 30%'s. I’ve been taking supplements for when I lift. I take:
amino 1800
NOS? or NO2 I’m not sure.
HMB
CLA
L-Carnitine but not regularly
Fish oil

I think theres more but I take vitamins and b12. I don’t think I drink enough water. And lastly my 1 rep maxes. I haven’t done this lately so this is an educated guess:
Bench-150
Squat-250
Deadlift-250?

I hope this was enough/not to much, let me know if I left anything out. Basically I’m looking for a routine that would be good for me or something/someone to help me make one. Thanks in advance!

you wont know until you commit to one. your stats say you havent

isnt everyone?

look at what everyone else is, and do the opposite

if that WAS a routine, it would be a shitty total body routine
stop it now

how tall are you?

my guess is you arent training in a way that this would even benefit you

NItric, not nitrous, oxide, and that is really an arginine suppelment and honestly, there’s better uses for your money

chuck it

??? why??

this is the only thing on here you should ABSOLUTELY HAVE

dude, why are you making up numbers? does that even help you???

it sucked and you told us that you arent doing anything that your supposed to do

do your research. pick a routine, any routine. commit to it for four weeks. do the workouts. lift enough weight that you break a sweat. dont feel comfortable

buy plain creatine monohydrate and whey isolate. use them both with the fish oil and aminos. forget everythign else

dont come on here and look for free personal training advice.

im being harsh but trying to let you know that you need to do a 180 before anyone on here will consider helping you

pc.

This is what I wanted lol.
The reason I can’t find a routine is because I found one or two that I have triedand I couldn’t really do because of lack of equipment. I said strength and size because other people had said to list your goals. I know its a shitty routine thats why I’m asking for advice. I’m about 6 ft. I thought HMB was good because it helped keep…wait nevermind.

I take CLA because I’ve looked at research behind it. I wasn’t making up numbers. I would put money that those are within a few pounds of my actual lifts. I do see what you are saying but I mean I don’t exactly know where to start. And thanks for being harsh, its what I need man.

what equipment do you have at your disposal

Man, this is a disaster. A person like you needs to go buy a simple, comprehensive book that outlines basic training and basic good eating. Then you need to do what the book says for at least a year.

You could try to figure out the basics for free on the internet, but in truth you will probably fuck this up. That you are using HMB, CLA, NO2, friggin carnitine…I don’t even know what to make of this. Just stop.

Eat food, take some fish oil, use a basic protein powder if you are not getting what you need from food. In 6 months or so, if you are making steady gains, get a basic creatine product.

But just a really basic book or something that you will stick to, that’s what you need. More information is not always a good thing, particularly when you are starting out.

Starting Strength Beginner program by Rippetoe.

Need I say more for now?

If you really are 30% BF, I dont think you will be dropping to anything close to ripped before summer (I could be wrong).

Anyway hope this helped~

I would advise you to make fatloss your main goal, and strength your secondary goal. Don’t worry about getting size until you are below 20%bf. The strength will carry over to size when you have learned how to stay lean.

Number 1 issue for you is learning to eat properly. If you read the Are You A Beginner there are articles on nutrition, and there are many other sources which can help you out that are not from this site, or even the internet.

Starting Strength and a good cardio/hit cycle would do you fine.

Thanks I’ll make sure I read all the articles. I know I’ve probably pissed some people off with my ignorance, but I appreciate the help. I know I’m not going to get anywhere near ripped for the summer but getting rid of a gut would be great. I actually have a book called Maximum Muscle Plan from Men’s health I guess I’ll have to read that a bit more closely.

Mmmm. We here at T-Nation are often sceptical about the content in magazines like Men’s Health.

Not having read Maximum Muscle Plan, I won’t judge it. There are much more credible sources of information for dieting.

What type of gym do you go to that doesnt have free weight or atleast a bench? I’m assuming you are not from a third world country because you are on the interwebs.

im pissed that you never listed what equipment you have man

If you have extremely limited equipment you could check out Turbulence Training.

I’ll definitely be looking into the Starting Strength book. I was looking at it online and found some stuff on the wiki. Thanks!

You are smart for saying that, you’ll be a genius if you follow the program and milk it for all its worth!

Haha, I’ve read almost the entire FAQ about lifts and and watched the videos. Bout to finish now and try to order the book this weekend or soon hopefully.

Sounds good, I’d also recommend you start a training log (in the training log section). If you do so I’ll follow along if you wish.

Where is the training log section? On T-Nation or Starting Strength? I can’t seem to find it on starting strength. I’ve been looking at the calculator where you add 5 pounds to lifts and such if thats what you mean.

Seriously? There is more than enough information on this site to develop a rock solid training and nutrition plan without buying any books.

The training log section is one of the forums.
