What IS the difference between Metabolic Drive and Surge???

:D
Nothing. It is the same stuff in different packaging, isn’t it?

Discuss.

Getting heavier for your weight. Duh.

For the record, I happen to be taller than most people my height.

Man, this thread was sure to be a firestarter, huh?

I tend not to frequent the newbie threads where 140-pounders ask if they should bulk or cut, or whether they’ll get huger on Alpha Male or ZMA, so I haven’t been witness lately to how people do or don’t treat the newbies, so I can’t claim any expertise in that area.

With regard to a general tone of negativity, however, the original poster has a point to a degree. It’s probably not completely avoidable on any Internet forum, but it sometimes does exist here.

It doesn’t come from the solid core group of posters who’ve been here a while and have always acted like mature, intelligent, cool, knowledgable individuals (and they’re the main reason I spend time on these forums), but from the occasional random jerkoff with no adult-level social skills.

It never ceases to amaze me that someone who does not know you and in some cases has NEVER even communicated with you before, even on these forums, will sometimes jump in and belligerently begin making personal attacks on you in a manner last seen when I was in about the seventh grade.

If you don’t know a person, have never spoken to or communicated with them before . . . you might disagree with their opinion, point of view or observation, so feel free to argue against that point that they’re making in a forum until you’re blue in the face. Have it at.

There’s nothing better than good debate, and good banter. BUT, stick to arguing the POINT that’s being discussed – don’t haul off and attack the INDIVIDUAL making the point, who you know almost ZERO about, and say things like, “I guess you feel that way because you must (totally suck in XYZ way, huh?) you puss!” or something to that net effect.

I read some of this shit, not even when it’s directed at me personally, but when it’s directed at other posters who were perfectly innocently going about their business discussing something and then someone jumps in way out of left field and starts personally attacking them like an adolescent pit bull on crack, and I sometimes feel the need to jump in, whether I know/like the original poster or not.

I might not even agree with them. But sometimes the random attacker needs to be told to shut the fuck up and not come back until they reach the maturity level of at LEAST a 17-year-old.

Some people just need to learn to behave like they’re not on a fucking junior high school playground. The occasional really random personal attacks do sometimes poison the place. Not enough to outweigh the good here, but they can indeed be a pain in the fucking nuts.

A hearty thanks goes out to all for a mucho entertaining thread! Mad props goes out to the OP who’s willingness to bag on himself has been quite amusing and also CaliLaw and CappedAndPlanIt who’s Surge and Metabolic Drive debate is highly amusing as well.

Bravo,

D

You’re heavier than most your weight? That must be a close call.

Don’t worry though, I’m taller than most my height.
And half the people in this country are of below average intelligence.

I don’t care what the difference is. Neither of them is natural and I want to stay off gear.

I have noticed this a lot in the past three days, because I’m on break from school and have been on T-Nation for the past three days straight.

But seriously guys ::sniff sniff:: I’ve had like four personal attacks on me and I’m really upset about it.

Nah but I think if you don’t like what some people say then speak up instead of bitching out. Period. Take into consideration that with all this testosterone flying around and all these different cultures and personalities that you’re going to have a fair amount of aggravated disputes. Hate or not I don’t think I have seen anyone not just say “Oh, well to each it’s own.”

We do bullshit a lot here though; albeit sarcasm, intelligence, understanding and outright righteousness seems to be the pace we’ve set. That’s solidified and I don’t think it’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.

Where’s that thread on “What T-Nation Means To You?” I think thats what it was called.
We were just trying to “turn you out” man. Don’t think anything of the personal bashing.

If the people throwing negative remarks are truly clueless themselves, then by all means, lets all jump right back on them. If, however, you are complaining because we aren’t being extra nice to people who don’t even work out but want praise for how they look after 3 weeks of walking past a gym, what are you thinking?
No, no no. Coddling is the absolute wrong thing to do.

You know what I find interesting?

If a woman on this site is making ANY progress, everybody cheers and applauds her, but most guys that post are criticized. Sure, a lot of them are asking for it, but is it really that great of an accomplishment when a woman loses one or two pounds of fat? I got an extra set in yesterday, where’s my parade?

I do like the encouragement given to women, because I think it can really help people to have all that support, but there is definitely a difference.

Men might not need as much, but it can certainly be discouraging to have everybody flame you. I admit that many of these people come here and post stupid things, but they don’t know any better, and often rather than trying to educate them people just insult them and start online fights.

Oh and some 45lb plates really do weigh more than others, at least at my gym.

Don’t go using logic just because you can’t think of a smart ass comment.

(And let’s face it, by the math scores in schools these days nobody understood what you just said).

Its called a double standard. When we cheer and applaud the ladies for making progress we mean: “Oh baby, that’s HOT. Put up some more pictures.”

If you really want cheering and a parade, go to a gay bodybuilding site.

Or crossfit.

This thread has gone to shit already. Pretty boring, so I’m gonna leave you guys with this.
