Hardcore Essentials

Dave, I have to agree with you however I feel guilty as hell for missing any lifting time that I had planned.
Tonight went well surprisingly after a hard, long day at work.

T-handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Safety Bar Squats:
155 x 10
235 x 5
335 x 3
445 x 1

Incline Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1
266 1/2 x 1
208 1/2 x 3 x 3

Standing Crunches:
80 x 20

I passed out after work for about an hour nap and when I awoke I felt like every muscle on my body ached so I had a coffee and lifted.

great inclines GV! Did the Bulgarians approve of the nap?

Bulgarians say nap time-must time!

I love me some naps!

Feeling beat up isn’t a reason to take a night off so I lifted after a strong coffee.

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Safety Bar Squats:(RAW!-All days are done RAW but I forget to put it sometimes)
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
447 x 1

Close Grip Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
256 x 1
283 x 1

Standing Overhead Press:
135 x 5
155 x 3
205 x 1

The biggest challenge tonight was managing my 3 year old, who demanded my attention, between sets and lifts. Playing with your super-powered kid while lifting is another dimension in training.

Strong session despite the fun distraction. My son is ten now and he knows play time comes after I finish working out but in about half of my videos you can here him talking to me in the background during the set.

Yeah, I didn’t mention that my daughter sometimes starts calling, “Daddy!” when I am in the middle of doing reps. I have to explain to her not to talk to daddy when he’s lifting but at 3 years old those instructions are not taken too seriously.

The way you are lifting, I need to rent a 3 year old super power kid to train with. Might help my numbers.
Nice work GV.

Thanks OP.
Tonight went well and the pressure changes from the rain and atmosphere craziness let up so my arthritis took a break which made lifting a little less painful.

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Safety Bar Squats:(RAW!)
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
450 x 1

Fat Gripz Close Grip Incline Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
253 x 1

Standing Crunches:
80 x 20

Didn’t get to lift tonight until 9:30 which makes for a long day after working and attending to the kids, family stuff etc. Getting set up for my new work in virtual, telephonic resolution and that is another challenge to schedule in my days. The busy life…

Tonight was low energy from the beginning due to 3 hours of pool cleaning/chlorine treatment and me wanting to watch football. That chlorine can really knock you out, it had my head swimming for an hour after putting 10 gallons in the pool to shock the water. Then much to my enjoyment the atmospheric pressure changes returned and the rain came a thundering down while I lifted which facilitated arthritis to say, “Hello!”

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Safety Bar Squats:
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
405 x 1

Floor Presses:
135 x 10
185 x 10
225 x 1
257 x 1(Wanted more but I was fatigued and worn out in my shoulders)

Sumo Deadlifts:
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
477 x fail(So I put the weight down from a partial pull and then immediately switched to a regular stance)

Conventional Deadlift(5 seconds after 477 sumo fail):
477 x 1 with a 1 1/2 foot hold and walk back/shuffle to the hooks in the power rack.

Standing Crunches:
80 x 20

There was just no way I was letting that puny 477 beat me tonight so gripped it and ripped it after a sumo miss. The walk back into the rack was an extended pause at the top hold for the short shuffle to the rack hooks so I wouldn’t have to unload the weights from the floor. Lots of fun.

Solid work all around. I can’t pull sumo to save my life. I wouldn’t worry about the miss.

Back to being a big bag of lard today to watch the NFL playoff games. Go Niners and Broncos!

Tonight well considering my arthritis was flaring in my right hip and wrists due to a huge rainy front and atmospheric pressure changes happening again.

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Safety Bar Squats:(RAW!-My serratus and obliques are being destroyed with these and very sore all week)
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
455 x 1

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1
283 x 1

Svend Presses:
30 lbs(3 Plates) x 3 x 20

Hanging Leg Raises:
3 x 10

A good night and my 3 year old did 3 sets of Hanging Leg raises too(2, 5, and 6 reps) copying me. I gave her a lift and a close spot to make sure she wouldn’t fall. She asked me if she could do them and it was great! She said, “We take turns because we love each other.” And, my heart melted.

That’s awesome. Maybe you can train up a little GV.

I hope my daughter will be interested in being strong and athletic as she grows and more or equally consumed with her intellectual pursuits. Plus, I’m going to teach her how to fight.

Tonight was another great night for arthritis and my stomach was upset from something I ate earlier in the day which added weird pain in my back. All said, I swigged a dark coffee and lifted. The Metallica blasting on the boombox helped me fix on the iron.

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 2 x 20

Squats:(RAW)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1(Belt)
465 x 1(Belt)

Standing Overhead Presses:
135 x 5
155 x 3
206 x 1

Close Grip Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5

SlingShot Close Grip Bench Press:
225 x 5
275 x 1
300 x 1

Had to use my damn belt on my heavier squats which really pissed me off. My back was aching and my gut was gurgling but the squats went well considering the bother. The bench went well enough but I’ve had better nights and will have better soon.

206 OHP after the heavy squatting is a big number. Nice work.

I did SSB squats and I respected your numbers with them but after I was done that respect got multiplied by 10…they are tough

…And the big F You to father time continues. Nice work going on in here!

@chobbs-Yeah man the SSB squats are no joke and when you do them raw with no belt the toll on your core is very high and the value is great.

Thanks Dave.

@hawkcapt1912-That’s the way we have to keep it. The mind set is there is no quit and just cause I hurt, so what that iron still is going to move.
