Hardcore Essentials

Cool. I know you will. Set the goal and drive to it!

Gorilla,

A 5 second paused squat with 445? Why do you hate yourself so much, just quarter squat that shit and eat some Halloween candy. That is truly the sign of a badass though, I’m scared to pause the bar in the bottom position, great job.

confusion-I would like to have at least a 300 lbs bench and 600 lbs deadlift as well as a 600 lbs squat in this meet next Saturday. I may exceed these numbers but I would be pleased with a 1500 lbs total that is well done. It would be a real honor to earn my first best lifter award and have a 9 for 9 day.
On another note I decided to take yesterday off from lifting and today as well instead of Saturday and Sunday off because I am just aching all over and family events.[/quote]

Did the Michael Buble concert wear you out? Lmao. I would never have guessed you for a romantic. Well done! Bet your wife loved you for it

Good luck at your meet. And definitely get video.

Thanks kpsnap and BH.
confusion- Buble was great and I guess I am a romantic. I also made my wife a bracelet and ring from red oak with a beautiful stain and a satin finish because wood is the traditional thing for a 5th anniversary. I guess that makes me a sap too(pun intended)

Training tonight was inspiring and boosted my outlook for this coming Saturday’s powerlifting meet.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1(No wraps-no belt-ATG-easy weezy)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1
295 x 1(Pause-PR since 2 1/2 years ago biceps tear)

Deadlift:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
525 x 3

So, think my opener on the bench will be 280(My PR in July meet) and the dead opener will be 525 lbs. I will be shooting for over 300 on the bench and over 600 lbs on the dead all things considered concerning meet day body performance.

You’re really impressing me GV,on more than one level. Keep up the great work!

1500 easy peasy! Good luck. Do you take it easy for the rest of the week and just tap out light workouts?

I wish I would have thought of the wood thing on my fifth. That is very cool. Next year is china for us (just looked it up on wikipedia). Missed tha anniversary before. Congratulations!

Thanks confusion.

For some reason I thought your meet with this weekend. Now I gotta wait another week. I’m bummed.
Be sure to get a video of the upcoming kicking of ass please. Thx.

Tick-tock, the count down begins. Nothing left to do, but focus your mind.

Thanks fellas, it’s going to be fun.

Happy anniversary brother! and congrats on the BP PR!

Thanks OG on both accounts. The journey just to get back to near 300 lbs has been tedious. The journey with my wife has been the best 5 years of my life or really almost 7 years since we met.

Lucky for me a relative I visited with this past weekend had a cold. I asked her not to come over because I have a meet coming up but she said she was over the bug and visited anyway. Perhaps the bug was with me but not developed until after I did deads Sunday night but yesterday I was ill all day and night and this morning everything coming out is yellow and green. Hopefully, this is almost out of me today and it’s on to the meet this Saturday.

Nothing to do now but get some rest, stay loose and get your ming right.

You are going to crush your numbers.

You’ll be better by then and ready to destroy.

Well, that’s one way to get your weight down fast. Good luck at the meet.

Thanks fellas.

Tonight I had a hard time getting going but after some mobility work I cleared up and lifted.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
425 x 1(ATG-no wraps, no belt)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
205 x 4 sets x 3 reps(Pause reps)

35 minute lift time and easy prep for Saturday’s meet. I’m still stuffed up and a bit achy from my cold but hopefully tomorrow I will be beyond the bug.

Good luck and Give’em Hell!
