Thanks Wiex.
Tonight was less than encouraging and I’m feeling like I need a couple days off in a row or maybe just 5 days of very light training. My left biceps feels like it has a tight knot in it when I move it certain ways and after lifting this evening I had some unusual pain under my left ribs. I believe it’s time to back off and listen to my body.
T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps
Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
425 x 1
585 x walk out(my back said, “no way”)
Close Grip Fat Gripz Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
250 x 1
Perhaps I’m just having one of those down days but a little light work seems to be in order for a refresh.
Walkouts count. look at what half the gym guys call a squat. Really it is just a walkout. Don’t say walkout. Just say BB Squat.
You gotta listen to the body, but if you are walking out the weight it will know it is just recovering and not get any bright ideas. You get back to 6 soon enough even if you need to take baby steps now and again.
Thanks OP. I’ve taken 2 days off in a row which I haven’t done in a while so hopefully I’ll get back to lifting today. I feel like I have trauma in my left biceps but I don’t know the extent of the injury. I hope I have not torn a muscle.
Getting back to lifting tonight had me excited to find out how the weight was going to feel after two days off.

Squat felt pretty good however though I had more in the tank I am going to move up slowly from here. Bench felt good but my left arm still feels like the biceps brachialis or brachioradialis has sharp trauma during some movements and benching. The trauma seems not to hinder strength or range of motion though so I am just going to pour on the therapy. I have signed up to do a powerlifting meet on November 9th…so it’s on.
Here are my two daughters with one pushing my new invention the Baby Prowler:
Signing up two weeks out from a meet seems like a good way to avoid overthinking your pre meet training. Good luck, very interested to see your results. Two questions, are you going to compete at 198 and have you decided approximately what your openers will be?
Dave-I’ve gained about 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks or so and now I’m weighing about 210 so I’ve entered the 220 class and I’ll be trying to put on a couple more pounds just for kicks. I haven’t decided what my openers will be but I am thinking of having a 9 for 9 meet and go heavy but not over do it.
Tonight the lifting went well.

Not trying to push to much this evening. An average night but good for a little less than an hour of lifting. Perhaps tomorrow night I will hit more weight because I am helping my wife throw a baby shower for my sister in law so I will be gunning to up the testosterone after a day of estrogen surrounding me.
