Massive!

Do you find your DL goes up with your squat? I heard the westside guys rarely train their dl do to the overlap.

Thanks Crippler.
My deads have been moving up very slowly and are not on pace with my squats but I am working them pretty hard. I’m not following the Westside protocol now but doing a bulgarian type program and it’s just all out, every day, hard work.

Thanks guys, hopefully I will be doing a 600 lbs daily squat in a couple weeks.[/quote]

How long did it take to go from 500 to 600 the first time?

Moving from 500 to 600 the first time took me about 3 years on the squat and roughly the same for the dead lift.

That makes sense, although I hope it won’t take that long for me to get from 400 to 500. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Jack, you know it takes different times for each individual and of course training history and conditioning are huge factors.

Tonight was an odd evening because I felt strong yet wiped out from not getting enough sleep the last couple of days.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
550 x 1(Bad position set up tonight, a real grinder)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
250 x 1
285 x 1(Highest I’ve been in a while-still some left in the tank-won’t be happy till I surpass my old PR of a paused 385)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20 reps

Decent night but good sleep is needed and a ton of mobility work to follow. Oh! I was stung just lower than my right eye today by a wasp while working and the stinging has been a wonderful experience.

GV, since you know Beau. Here’s part of last night’s training. I didn’t know what was up when I got there. Our ringleader put this together. It’s a little glimpse into our little slice of heaven (22nd Street Barbell). It’s on powerliftingwatch.com.

Damn…385 paused

I was worn out all day, the heat is back up to around 90 degees in the aftenoon and the sudden switch from our cold front last week has me hurting in the sun. We had about 2 weeks of highs in the low 80s so I got spoiled because lifting temps were in the 70s and it was heaven. Tonight went okay.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 x 20

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
555 x 1(Need to go a little deeper but I hit parallel-analyzed the video about 20 times)

Floor Presses:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
250 x 1
225 x 1(Completely worn out and having some shoulder discomfort so, therapy will ensue)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20 reps

A neighbor and his daughter came over to visit and play with my daughter in the garage while I lifted so I had some distractions above and beyond the normal. In one way it was good for me to practice focussing but I was not 100% due to concern with 3 year olds being 3 year olds in the near vicinity.

Better keep it moving north. I’m only 125lbs. behind and gunning for you.

Great work GV. My opinion is that real men workout at home with three year olds cheering for them. Sissies go the gym.

Thanks guys.

Great stuff as always GV…

Nice job grinding out the squat. Hope the shoulder feels better today.

Thanks fellas.
Tonight I didn’t feel like doing anything, just a general sense of blah.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 x 20

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1(3 second pause ATG)

Dead Stop Pin Bench Press(Start at Chest):
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20 reps

Right shoulder still giving me problems but I have rolling the area a lot today with my LAX then more with the foam roller and tonight with the MarcPro. Also having trauma in right triceps and teres minor, teres major, rhomboids, associated with the delt but therapy should fix.

Keep up the good work. Some of us are lifting heavy weights vicariously through you.

those dead benches are ridiculously hard, but for a raw lifter where most have trouble off the chest it is a great movement

Thanks corrmhona, the encouragement is always good to see and have.

I’m pretty sure you could squat Everest!

Hope the shoulder is feeling better GV. Given the angle of the latest video, it looked like you hit parallel to me. I don’t think I could even unrack that weight, so the squat looked damned impressive to me!
