Hardcore Essentials

Nice work GV. How’s the Slingshot treatin’ ya? See you’ve been using it. Any feedback? Another one found its way into our gym. A teammate came back with the black model (multi-ply) after a meet in Vegas.

Plus your day job is brutal. You are a machine. I watch and learn.

@hawkcapt- Thanks. The SlingShot is great. I love the SlingShot because it allows me to overload my max by about 8% and feel the heavier weight. I have no spotter so the 8% increase the SS provides is only for a limited range of motion right where I need the help. I recommend the SlingShot for everyone, mine is a red one I purchase a couple years ago.

@corrmhona-Thanks. The rewards are wrapped up in feeling content in the labor.

On that note tonight the lifting was fabulous after several extended sessions of brutal hamstring, hip, and thoracic mobility work.

The back felt fine for 530 lbs on the squat tonight. Much rolling and therapy to follow tonight.

Looking strong. Impressive!

Thanks confusion.

Thanks for the review of the Slingshot. I’ve been thinking about getting one.

530 now? That’s just showing off. You’re the man

A slongshot is very high on my list of new toys.

Yeah Joe, the slongshot gives me at least 8% more so I’m thinking about doing some specialty films now…HA!

Someday your going to have to teach me how to squat.

On a different note I might have to check out the MarcPro or some other TENS unit. I didn’t realize that you get a decent unit for so cheap.

Lifting today was extra fun because I did mobility work yesterday(day off) and had today off from work(more mobility work) so I started fresh with brand new muscles, like I just bought a new set at the Mart.

Just over an hour of lifting and feeling pretty good.

GV what is your squat PR?

GV: I need a favour, and I expect at least a few others would benefit from this too. If you could give me a list of what all you do for prehab/mobility work, and what equipment you use? I’ve been picking through your log but I know I’m missing things. I’m not pushing enough weight that it is a huge deal yet, but I’m starting to feel it and I want to get ahead of the game. Thanks!

@Jack-My last squat PR before pulling my hamstring at the meet on July 14 was 625 lbs but I have no idea what it is now because I have not tried to go that heavy since July. Hopefully, I will surpass the 625 soon.

@corrmhona-Prehab mobility work for me usually consists of doing about 10-15 minutes of LAX ball rolling per hamstring while perusing my computer. Then, I do about 10-15 minutes of thoracic(Erectors) rolling with my Gemini(Rogue Fitness), followed by rolling my lats and shoulder area, and finally 10-15 minutes of rolling my IT band, piriformis, quads, and adductors(Black foam roller). After doing all this I feel like a new man and ready to lift or conquer Mt. Everest.

Immediately following lifting I may do some more black foam rolling on my back and quads and then a couple hours later, before bed, apply the MarcPro for electric stimulation therapy while watching television. It’s a lot of therapy but it seems to help.

I have the MarcPro, just need the LAX, Gemini and Rollers…

Thanks, I’m starting to need it with this two a day thing.

I’m a man of contradictions and vacillations. I didn’t do any prehab tonight due to me feeling unusually good and I just wanted to get the lifting over with.

SlingShot Bench Press:

275 x 1
315 x 1(Had more in me but decided to progress slowly)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20 reps

Fast work done in 45 minutes and glad to just be finished tonight-just feeling like ugh. My bench is improving nicely and I am looking for a big jump in my PR soon.

Big numbers as always. So you just used the 540 squat as rehab?

Tearing it up GV. You’ll be squaring 600 in no time at this rate.

Thanks guys, hopefully I will be doing a 600 lbs daily squat in a couple weeks.

Monster squats.
