Last week I posted on the results I’ve acheived with Protocol in terms of increased weights at the gym. This week I wanted to post the results in terms of body composition.
I got a body scan yesterday measuring basically every region of the body and giving detailed Fat and Lean numbers for each (i.e. Left Arm,Right Leg, Truck, Android, etc.) The scan allows me to see where I lost fat, gained masse, and where I need to work on - to the precise grams (or pounds if you do the conversion). So here goes.
Since beginning of year (it should be noted I started in Mid-January and went right to Protocol with Phase I so basically the scan is of progress over the last 6 weeks.
Lost - 7.56 pounds of fat. Biggest areas of loss - arms, legs, and mid section.
Gains - 17.95 pounds of lean mass. Biggest areas of gain - legs and shoulders by far, but I also saw a huge spike in arms and chest. I was surprised by the chest because my only work on chest was as part of the first 3 phases of protocol - just started this new phase (chest) yesterday - I was spent by the end of the workout.
I have adjusted my diet, I follow the protocol as part of my routine, watch the video everyday before I do the day’s workout, and push myself (and draw quite an audience) real hard at the gym. I’ve still got a ways to go - nowhere near my goal, but getting closer.
Since I’ve started the protocol I’ve heard/seen a lot of detractors.
My response is simple - the numbers don’t lie!
Any program is better than no program. Just playing devil’s advocate here because I know people will ask it…
What are your beginning numbers? You starting out at like 5’10" 140lbs?
Losing 8lbs of fat and gaining 18lbs of lean mass in the first few months at the same time is par for the course for newbs provided they are actually following ANY program religously.
Just saying…
When I started lifting I also lost fat and gained muscle quickly, at the same time, for about 2 months…and I’m an old 32 years…
There are no magic bullets, no secret programs, just proper or inproper execution and/or intensity. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This program will work for the vast majority because it’s far different than the usual slab of 6-12. It gets you out of your comfort zone. Hell, I’m doin it…just cuz of that reason only.
Fair questions. I’m 6’4 - 274. To put things in perspective. A year ago I was 317 with nearly 50%bf. That really sucks. Decided to do something about it. Started going to crossfit and lost a bunch of weight and gained muscle. But the longer I did it - the more muscle I burned as well. Got down to about 250- but I was eating away at muscle as well.
A friend of mine (certified trainier) introduced me to TMuscle late last year and convinced me that I had to start building muscle and cutting back on the frequency of crossfit. I did. I started with the Anaconda Protocol when it first came out - here are my beginning numbers
225 bench - now 305
225 squat - now 275 (Ive got a bad knee-surgeries)
185 hang cleans - now 225
365 dead - now 415
…
So yes it’s a new program to me and its definitely out of my comfort zone - so was crossfit - but I just wanted to get results and so far I have. I plan to stick with it.
when coach Christian Thibadaeu says that he has learned more about building muscle in the last year then in the ten before that… I shut and and listen. Very impressive. I wish Casein Hydrosolate was cheaper as well but I must also say that the taste if phenominal. It’s a testament unto itself that a company would make something that tastes so horrendous and make it taste good. Most companies would give a sugary taste good what ever the what drink but this company knows what’s up.
I can’t wait to see all the new IFBB pros using I,BODYBUILDER exclusively…
I never said anything about muscle confusion. I also never said it wasn’t based on sound principles. LOTS of programs are based on sound principles. I just can’t stand all the nut licking that goes on round these parts…be it a person, a website, or a program. It happens at other sites as well be it Abel’s or JPFitness or whatever.
Elliot…congratulations on your progress. I wish you the best and hope you continue to improve.
This is why you succeed:
“I have adjusted my diet, I follow the protocol as part of my routine, watch the video everyday before I do the day’s workout, and push myself (and draw quite an audience) real hard at the gym…”
Lots of people ‘workout’…few follow a solid fundamental routine. Even fewer push themselves to the point that people are looking at them. Bravo buddy. Keep up the good work. Take that mindset into whatever program you follow and you will succeed.

If you watch many pro training videos you will see them using concepts of a perfect rep. they are explosive, which is the basis of the program. Plus this is comparing apples to oranges, regardless of what they do they will grow because of other factors.
