Yeah… So besides the tacos. I will be giving my whole days worth of nutrition and then I can just say what I had from the Mexican restaurant
Tacos when you’re already fat aren’t going to even get you lean enough to look like a strongman
So these are fine but I’ve got a load of scientific and anecdotal data that say at least 2.2g/kg protein, and at least 0.66g/kg fat. Carbs are nice to fill the remainder.
Extra fat in the diet doesn’t do much of anything to help with muscle gain or fat loss, but that 0.66g/kg is a minimum for hormonal support.
Extra protein is fine up to 3.3g/kg (and up to 4.4g/kg if enhanced) but more than that has little benefit outside of satiety. Data supports down to 1.98g/kg protein, but anecdotal experience of every bodybuilder/meathead out there says at least 2.2g/kg.
Carbs are protein sparing and quite anabolic, but can be problematic if not carefully controlled and times. Use at your discretion.
Calories are the overarching metric to weight loss/gain. Calories in vs Calories out is all you really need… but for aesthetic purposes, use calories as the guide but macros for the specifics.
Recommend cooking your own food if you want to get serious about your goals.
Yes. I will be starting this week.
Thanks for the information. There’s always so many “this and that” just difficult to find who actually knows what they are talking about.
I wouldn’t say Tom Stoltman, Galvin Bilton, Eddie Hall (just to name a few) are really “lean.” They all have a belly. But I guess some peoples opinion of “fat” are different.
Oh man, I love that you opened this can of worms.
Professional strongman

Amateur Strongman

There is a long running tradition of strong people also being jacked and not fat. It’s an awesome tradition.
Yeah, I get that. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I personally don’t care if I’m “fat.” The most recent strongest man, Tom Stoltman, is more of the physique I want.
No shame in wanting what we want. I just like to break the idea that there’s one universal “strongman physique”. It’s like saying “I wanna look like an MMA fighter”, when that could mean Phil Baroni or Roy Nelson.
Very true. I guess I should have worded myself better to suit the point I was trying to give.
You forgot to add a photo of yourself haha
Didn’t realize that was a requirement.
These 5x8s are kicking my ass lol
I also feel like im in the gym way too long. At least longer than im used to ( one hour)
Are you saying you are training for one hour and that’s longer than you are used to, or are you saying you are used to training one hour and you are training longer than that now?
This one. I’m used to training for an hour and now with the 5x8s, I’m taking longer. I was in the gym about 2 hours this session. Don’t know if it’s because I’m taking longer rests or I’m severely out of shape or both. Probably both
There’s a chance you’re taking longer rests BECAUSE you’re out of shape.
Thankfully, getting in shape is a MUCH faster process than getting strong. You’ll be able to shave that gym/rest time down quickly as long as you’re willing to suffer enough to endure it.
Well, before, I’d rest about a minute. I decided to day that three minutes seems to do me better. As I would suffer on my last reps with such little rest. I just hear a lot that you should be resting two to five minutes or when you feel good enough to complete another set.
Yes, I’m already seeing a difference from my first lower body day to this second one. Didn’t feel like I was about to pass out at all this round.
You are morbidly a beast
