That’s pretty much how I see them too.
My brothers all have one and that’s pretty much how they end up.

love this. I love when people say stuff like this. unless you’re In the top 1% of society you are pretty much powerless.
This is a super common type of phrase with people who have given up. Make grandiose statements about a seemingly impossible benchmark.
Given the type of person you are, I doubt that’s how you meant, but dang.
Can we make a new thread? Please? One with some…rules?
I’ve never liked the use of 'he was powerless, he took out his anger by shooting everyone at school" . that phrase never vibe’d with me.
Given the type of person you are, I doubt that’s how you meant, but dang.
What do you mean here?
So anyway, shall we go back to discussing happy marriages and relationships…
This place is the wild West … ain’t no one going to adhere to no rules
Vacuum cleaners and ovens are the reason why women can work because it used to take women a full day to do the their chores and now it takes them an hour or less. Get the fuck outta here. First of all, with a family of four, it takes an hour to do the dishes. It takes, at last, an hour to cook dinner. This is just laughable
So you’re saying, women back in the day could finish up their house chores in like, 3 or 4 hours, and then spend the rest of the day gossiping and shopping for shoes?
I dunno 'bout y’all, but if I were a woman in this day and age working as a cashier at Aldi, I would be thanking my lucky stars that I don’t have to live like my grandma did.
Nah I think what he’s saying is that, despite the advancements in technology, it still takes a significant portion of time to accomplish house chores.

You don’t have children.
I know, it’s fucking hell.
Being lazy as fuck, I wouln’t have much of a problem being a stay at home dad if it meant watching sports all day. But it isn’t like that, is it?
House chores are hell and I avoid them as much as I can. We even got a maid now.
Ha!
I wish I didn’t.
But just sometimes…
Sorry, I’m just flat out not going to believe that you have them.
Otherwise, I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion.
I’ve stayed home with a sick kid. That alone was a full time job. Doing it when they’re healthy, even moreso.
And then household chores on top of that.
there’s no point dude, these people live in upside down world.
@mr.v3lv3t of course It takes time but that’s not what he was claiming. He was claiming that technology didn’t significantly cut it down which is an absurd thing to say. stop trying to defend a dumbass statement
Don’t worry man, I’ve got zero intentions of getting heavily involved in this discussion.
I missunderstood usmcc’s post.
I had to stay with both boys when their mother was working weekends (the youngest was only 10 months old and the oldest was five).
I couldn’t wait for monday.
One time the oldest decides to jump over a fence for no reason whatsoever other than being 5, so he trips and ends up scraping his chin so I had to drive him to the hospital to get him stiched up. All the while managing the little one.
They’re older now, thank god.
yeah I’m not worried. don’t worry about lt.
I just find it funny when one of the ‘members’ in here says something absurdly stupid the rest come in to circle around and try and defend something dumb.
I just posted a link and a few paragraphs from a book written by the economist Jeremy Greenwood. Here is a summary
In Evolving Households , Jeremy Greenwood argues that technological progress has had as significant an effect on households as it had on industry. Taking a macroeconomic perspective, Greenwood develops simple economic models to study such phenomena as the rise in married female labor force participation, changes in fertility rates, the decline in marriage, and increased longevity. These trends represent a dramatic transformation in everyday life, and they were made possible by advancements in technology. Greenwood also addresses how technological progress can cause social change.
Funny, when I post links its completely overlooked and now we’re talking about personal experiences instead.
And I don’t even know what for? USMC decided to change the entirety of Ian Kahn’s pointing out that technological advances were the main reason for female work participation vs what feminists were claiming, to “omg he said that chores with 4 kids doesn’t take any significant amount of time because of a dish washer, what that’s crazy, look how long it takes me to do this” uhhh???
Tell you the truth, I been sort of skimming this thread, but I haven’t been keeping up with it. No point to it.
I usually tend to agree more with the brick and your takes on this subjects, as they more closely match my experience/observations.
But I do not wish to discuss those matters, in the end it’s just like the AC/DC discography, the same album recorded over and over.
But as far as managing house chores, all the while dressing, feeding, bathing and cleaning/wiping kids (who offer resistance no less, those bastards), that’s absolutely the shittiest job ever.
Bill Burr had a bit on being a stay at home mom. Hilarious, but I wonder if he still has that opinion now that he has kids.

oh I don’t blame you. I’ll be stopping very soon and going back on my hiatus from this place. But I have procrastination problem and this place feeds into that.

for sure for sure. I don’t think that was ever argued against in here. it’s just that the people in here, when they can’t grasp an argument or get mad about something they kinda revert to semantics, and picking apart something in order to formulate their own argument against, an easier one that can get their friends to join in.
case in point - not wanting to argue the actual point of technological advances leading to freeing up more women to join the workforce to " what? of course house hold chores with 50 children inside takes all day" or some nonsense. It’s what they do in here.
