I’ve wanted to read it even more so after reading “Muscle” a few years back; “The Education…” is pretty much the entire reason Sam Fussell ventured into BBing and wrote “Muscle” in the first place.
P.S. I highly recommend “Muscle”, though it might be even harder to find than “The Education of a Bodybuilder”. You might want to skip the last chapter, though…
Yeah ‘Muscle’ is a good read, it has a good combination of seriousness and humour in it. I think there are sections in there that most lifters can relate to and it’s one of those books that makes you want to go right to the gym and lift! You can find it good condition secondhand if you search the net awhile.
‘Education of a Bodybuilder’ was the first bb book I ever read, and again there are sections in it that just make you want to run to the gym straightaway.
The first time I saw Arnold was in Pumping Iron. My brother and I used to watch it when we first started training. Talk about making you want to run out straight to the gym! The guy’s seeming nonchalance was almost unbelievable, especially in contrast to how hard he worked. Inspirational to say the least.
I also saw him at the Ritz here in boston a few years ago. He was still freakin’ huge - no custom made suit could hide it.
Anywho, unlike CC I’ve never actually owned an arnold action figure. Heeeheee ;0
…but every time someone posts those pics, it’s obviously to mock him.
…uuuuuhh, duuuh. what’s your point here? Who cares, arnold doesn’t care, nobody cares. it’s all in fun. I’m sure he’d have a nice laugh over it too. don’t be going around being the “fair police”.(e.g.It’s cuz he’s 60!!)
I must say you’re one of my favorite posters. In any event, I love how people must stick up for Schwarzenegger. Because, ya know, the guy is all helpless and everything.
I also, love, too, when people say (with a serious if not condescending tone): “Man, he’s let himself go.” Gee, it’s so surprising that the governor of the largest state in the union and 10th largest economy in the world might have other priorities than “pumping iron.” Geeze.
EDIT: This is not directed towards anyone in particular
I’m going to say this one final time:
It was not about sticking up for Arnold. It’s about getting tired of seeing that same picture over and over and over anytime a thread about Arnold is started, as if we all haven’t see it before and we’re going to be shocked at the state he’s let himself be photographed in.
There; I’m done with that part of this ridiculous discussion. If someone can’t understand that last paragraph, I feel sorry for them.
I thinkest, CC, there’s no contradiction there, except at the most superficial (re: word mincing) level. Methinks you are rather obsessed with these so called contradictions.
re: arnold action figure as a training partner. LOL! Funny. Yeah, actually, I hear him repeating his mantras sometimes while I’m working out (“It’s all about symmetry!” “Don’t forget the calves, everyone forgets the calves,” etc.") That possibly makes me even more a lunatic than you with that action figure in your mouth

You’re right. I edited my last post. I’m losing my damn mind in this thread.
Actually, before I edited that training partner post it also said “I super glue it to my shoulder and he yells”. Then I realized, as already stated, I’m losing my mind.
