Yes, you have no life.

And THAT, GriffinC, is precisely the same as you were complaining about (although you used the wrong term). That, sir, is also an Ad Hominim.

Now, can you tell me what a person is called when they bash someone for something that they do themself?
Hey hey hey, I was just trying to be funny. You little girls can have all the fun you want at your little “labeling party”.

Here’s one!!! What do you call a person who doesn’t give a fuck?

how about…what do you call an obnoxious teenager who slings tons of shit and when he gets called on it he says “i was just kiddin man…what’s your problem??”

Answer??

A Griffster!

At least we could get some enterainment from Shades.

Serious question to you guys that are pushing 190-200lbs (or less) @11-12% bf, what makes you so hardcore?

No offense meant, I’m not trying to be sarcastic, I just really want to know what makes you define yourself as “hardcore”?

There have been 3-4 times when a member here that I thought was “hardcore” posts pics/stats and turns out to be a 190-200 lbs. guy benching low 300s. Definitely good stats, and a hard worker, but not what pops into my mind when I think “hardcore”. What makes you guys more hardcore than the 10-15 college guys I see in my gym with the same stats? Are they hardcore too? Is it an attitude thing? Just curious.

I don’t know if you are referring to me or not. I can’t define myself has hardcore in BB/PL/OL sense. I’d define myself as hardcore in my dedication and determination for the particular sport I compete in. In terms of lifts… my weights are about normal for my weight. I generally stick with big plate measurements… and never really push 1RM lifts. Squat 315, Bench 225, and DL 315. The deadlift is weak, but (excuse coming) my hamstrings are very endurance based because of the geometry of a triathlon bike. These numbers usually decrease right at peak and I work on them in the off-season.

I eat clean everyday, I train hard on training days (which is usually twice p/ training day), and realize that every action I take has some influence on my final race time. Everything I do… is about getting better. Whether it is getting a job to afford the stuff I need to train and keep a proper diet… or simply realizing that even a man in solitary confinement can get in a good workout… I do it. I think that is hardcore.
Great post. I wasn’t refering specifically to you, but I saw that you mentioned you wouldn’t refer to a tri-athlete as “hardcore”. Maybe I misinterpreted what you were saying, but the couple of tri-athletes I know are pretty damn “hardcore” wrt their training.
GriffinC wrote:

Someone who wouldn’t have responded in the first pace.

I’d consider most of the competitive triathletes, that I know, hardcore. There are many that just fall into the opposite category.

I was more so saying that when I first hear the word hardcore, I don’t think triathlon. I don’t really think bodybuilding or powerlifting either. I don’t think of a sport at all. I think more of a balls-to-the-wall attitude.

I think you are exactly right.

I think the problem I, and several others have wrt hammering people for their goals is this:

The flamee will get on here and posts his pics. His stats are invariably in the 135 - 165 pound range and his BF will be around 7-10% It is evident that he doesn’t lift. It is evident that he is not athletic. It is painfully evident that he has piss poor nutritional habits.

Then said flamee will say something like - “I’ve been working really hard - and you can almost see my eight-pack. Do you think I should cut, or Bulk?”

Then the Prof, or another BS sensor, will tell said flamee to eat and lift. They’ll say he has no where to cut to - unless you count exposed ribs as a goal.

Then the kid gets pissed because he wanted everyone to tell him how fucking good he looks. Only this place won’t do it for him. Then he’ll turn into a little girl and start trying to pick fights with the ones who are actually trying to help him out with their honesty.

I don’t think there is a person on T-Nation that has ever been flamed for being hardcore - whether it be an athlete PL’er, Ol’er, or BBer.

If you are going to post your photos in the “Physique and Performance Photos” Forum - you’d better have one or the other. Beginners that need help, and are willing to listen, are helped. Pissed off little soy-boys that are self-appointed experts are flamed.

I agree 100%.

If I didn’t lift I’d probably weigh 135, but for some of us it takes at least a couple of years of consistent effort to get up to even 160.

Maybe the first time a user posts the site should shanghai him/her to a mission statement and introductary article series that they have to read and confirm, similar to an end user license agreement when installing new software

I would estimate that between 70-80 % of people who solicit advice on this site, on other sites and in real life, have absolutely no interest in receiving advice, but are simply looking to be validated. If they search long enough, they will find someone who validates and supports their own pre-conceived ideas.

This is true in life as well.

There was more to my post than that, big guy.

Here’s one:
What do you call someone who’s exused himself from running during PT because he’s too big?

In all honesty, I think you guys take shit waaaay to seriously. If you’re tired of looking at newbie pics, then simply don’t. No one is forcing you to respond to these threads, no one makes you read them. I takes to seconds to look at someone’s post/photos and hit the back button. You guys take this stuff like it’s a personal attack on your well being. People are going to stumble onto this site everyone once and a while, you can’t change that. What you can do is help educate them so maybe the word will get out and future newbs wont do the same thing. It’s not hurting you AT ALL when these people post, just ignore them. If you’re not man enough to do that, then you shouldn’t be calling yourself a T-man in the first place.

I agree with this. The Griffster is Al Shades part II. A young sh*t that thinks he knows everything. Disrespecting every experienced poster on this board. An estrogen-filled little man that is making more enemies by the minute.

This is a bodybuilding site. At least it used to be. All of the desktops I have downloaded say,“Dangerously Hardcore”.

I’ve been a member here for a long, long time. I adhere to the original tenets of this site.

I have little time for 5’10" 155 pound metrosexuals that are affraid of some mass. I won’t apologize for it, nor will I be brow beaten into ‘accepting’ them into the t-life style. The only thing dangerous about these guys are their estrogen levels.

I don’t know of many 155 pound powerlifters that post pics on here asking for advice. The 155’ers that I’ve seen posting before photos would be better served watching Oprah, and reading her 'Book of the Month".

DANGEROUSLY Hardcore used to mean something - and it damn sure wasn’t “let’s all just get along”.

Comming from a guy with Johnny Bravo in his avatar. You do not rule this site, or anyone in it. This is just a fucking website not a cult, get over yourself and the whole “OMFG DANGEROUSLY HARDCORE”. It only meant something to people with no lives who turned to internet sites for support. If you don’t like someone’s posts/threads just don’t post in them.
Wait, wait, let me get this straight. You claim that when someone attacks someone they get all defensive and then won’t listen to what the person says. Now, I want you to reread this post, and tell me why you posted this since by your own logic it was a waste of time for you.

"Just point out a few articles and let it go. "

How about they try and read the articles instead of asking where they could find them? This is like people asking where something is on the internet before they even try to google it. The forum is not the fucking information desk. It is not too much to ask that people at least try and find something out for themselves.

This is exactly the issue summed up nicely by rainjack. Yes, this is a bodybuilding site. But it also has room for OLs, PLs, Triathletes, etc. What it doesn’t have room for are skinny manorexics that look like they never work out posting pictures on this forum looking for ego strokes. Be warned, you will be flamed.

If the kid weighing 130 gets on here and listens - he learns. That’s the cool thing about this place. There is a lot of knowledge free for the asking. No one would fault a guy because of his weight. Hwat the scale reads is not what makes him flame fodder.

I respectfully submit that if a 130 pound kid gets on here WANTING to learn - he will be taught flame free. But if the same kid gets on here and tries to cop one of those “I know what I’m doing - I don’t need any help” attitudes - he will be lit up like the 4th of July.
