Gym Idiot Stories

i couldnt find a thread like this already; so i started one. post your gym idiot stories here  this is my only one. its very lengthy, but i think it tops the king of the gym idiots.

im in the gym doing some light OHP, and this guy comes walking in dressed in all grey tapout clothes (sweat pants, sweat shirt, beanie) with grey nike shoes… i live in louisiana and its april. its HOT here, so i was wondering why he had all of that on. anyways, he loads up the smith press and this other chest machine with like three 45lb plates and proceeds to do about a million sets of 10. saying he was quarter repping would be a compliment… he was coming down like 2 inches. after about 30-40 minutes of him using those, some other guy walked up to him and was like “are you almost done?” the guy said “uhh…yeah. im done now.” and got up and proceeded to do dumbbell presses (still using pitiful ROM) with 55 lb dumbbells. by the way, he wasnt breathing on any of his reps. he was holding his breath and was red as a cherry after every set. he then proceeds to do bent over rows with a super arched back… he did 1 set on one arm and i guess he decided his back hurt too much so he resumed chest day. he went back on the 2nd chest machine (which he had left all SIX of the plates on), and proceeded to do plenty of horrible sets. i got sick of almost watching him pass out, so i walked over there and introduced myself (i was a PT for the gym at the time, so it wasnt weird), and was gonna tell him that he should breath sometime during the conversation, very casually and nicely. i started off the conversation my name and i asking him if he trained MMA. he was like huh? i said “your clothes… youre wearing all tapout. do you train MMA?” he told me no he didnt train MMA or anything like that, but he wrestled back in high school (he was like 30). so i said oh. then a few minutes later in the conversation, he explained to me that the reason he was wearing so much clothing was that he was cutting weight. CUTTING WEIGHT FOR WHAT?! he had just told me he didnt train anything, he was just doing general fitness, and now hes telling me hes cutting weight? anyways, i could tell he was wondering why i was talking to him, so i told him i was one of the trainers there at the gym. he said “oh really, thats cool. whos your certification through?” i told him ACSM, and he proceeded to tell me he had never heard of ACSM, but he got his certification through NASM. ??? this guys a trainer ??? god bless his clients. i got frustrated with him, didnt mention the breathing, and left to go into the cardio/bodyweight room to go do dips. he followed me, got on the treadmill, threw a towel over his head to where he couldnt see anything, then proceeded to put the treadmill on maybe 3 or 4 mph, and speedwalk. i went home.

Just wanted to log in and ask you if you heard about that shake weight yet?

Well, if someone is new here “Squat Rack Curls 5” doesn’t really scream out “THESE ARE STUPID GYM STORIES!”

My latest one is a PT that looks at himself in the mirror, then says “OK…trust me…you can do it!” before he curls the 25s or 30s.
I’m in Taiwan and he says this in English and it’s only me and him in the dumbbell area.

hey man, how many Olypias have you won?

0?

why you mocking folks?

and, lol. shakeweights-the best way to train for giving a rhino a handjob

Oh, another small bit of friendly advice…do not mention any of these things here : shakeweight, Planet Fitness, or that you can’t find pants/shirts that fit.

I’m not kidding…we’ve had maybe 9 or 10 threads about those and it will get a noob killed!

And may I add “music to lift to” or similar.

Why buy a shakeweight if you can fap?

The shaft of my penis doesn’t auto-adjust to compensate for a shift in equilibrium…

BTW, I’ve noticed that my pants are fitting a lot snugger around my penis… I think this may be a problem? Not sure if stores exist that can clothe somebody such as myself… maybe a pipe dream?

My gym idiot story is about myself.

I was doing cleans one day and I got a bit big headed, thought I could clean more than I actually was able to… anyway, I proceed to “clean” it and realize its too heavy. I didn’t want to make a scene, so instead of bailing out and dropping it, I try and catch it by tucking my pelvis and leaning back.

Needless to say, The next thing I knew I was on the floor with the wind knocked out of me making the weird kid of noise someone makes when the unexpected happens, and a loaded barbell on to of me. I’m just lucky i had the tall 25kg plates on, else I’d have been squaushed!

Synthol douche roasts and threads entitled “Is bodybuilding a sport?” are two more enduring faves.

You’re right!

The worst thing about those threads too is that they all get the same answers…a lot of stuff that sounds like Cookie Monster is singing.
At least in the other threads posters will shoot down the OP immediately…those music ones go on with youtube link after youtube link.

Why the hate on the shake weight? I bought one for my GF’s birthday and she gives the best single handed, blind folded hand jobs now.

within the first week of me lifting (about 3 years ago), i saw a guy doing deadlifts… and i had absolutely no idea what he was doing, thought he was stupid lol. i was like ha thats pointless wtf he is doing? i also got on a back extension bench backwards, thinking it was some sort of ab bench… and one time, i had torn my rotator cuff from biking, and about 2 weeks after when i thought it was healed, i was doing incline bench press without a spotter and all of the sudden, my shoulder gave out (it wasnt fully healed even though the doctor said it was) and almost killed myself… some giant guy behind me saved me. everyone has their own gym idiot stories im sure. :]
also, my first time doing a full snatch, i did atg on the bottom part of it and couldnt get back up and just ended up sitting down and falling backwards…without bumper plates or a platform. i didnt know what they were back then.

Get a load of this moron…

So I’m doing my usual Mongolian subscapularis flings in the Power Rack, using a green 10lb Eleiko bumper plate on each side - these are bigger than conventional plates and make me look stronger to the uninitiated. Wasn’t monopolizing the station at all, just doing a modest 15 sets of 15 reps each.

This idiot walks up to me and says “the squat rack is for squats bro”. I inform him that he might enjoy shutting the fuck up, and let him know that it’s in fact called a “POWER rack”, and that since I’m looking for more subscapularis POWER that I’m fully within my rights to be there. I also educated him on how fucking bad squats are for your knees.

Complete and utter imbecile…

^ Nicely played.

this^ on a smith press. feet on the bar, laying on a bench.

Also…
