Just an interesting clip of the two guys going through wrestling drills. I also couldn’t help but notice how “thick” GSP looked in comparison to Nate…who is not a small MW himself.

Marquardt’s a monster MW. You see that cover of M&F? Think I read somewhere [here?] that GSP’s been working with Berardi to pack on 10 or so lean lbs so he can be even bigger come fight time. Maybe a tactical move in anticipation of a Silva catch weight bout?

Yes…that issue of M&F incidentally floated around our MMA school for a bit…lol.
There is an interview of GSP talking about gaining weight, moving up to MW,etc…can’t quite recall where I saw it though.
geez…i’ve always thought that GSP is a true world class athlete, along the lines of Michael Jordan, etc… but he was clearly pushing Marquardt around. GSP did look about the same size as him as well, which is a little surprising…i wonder if Marquardt doesn’t actually cut that much weight.

You think he’s really gonna make that move? The guy is obviously a true thoroughbred athlete, but he’s gonna be fighting guys who walk around at 220. Maybe it’s not as duanting to him as it is to me, haha.

I don’t know if I’d compare him to Jordan -who might be the best overall athlete in NBA history - but he’s definitely at the top of the food chain in MMA. Man, I think Marquardt walks around at 220-ish. I forgot how to post pics but check out the cover of M&F he was on. He’s a goddamned tank.
Lebron is definitely the best athlete the NBA has seen.

Lebron is what would happen if Karl Malone and Clyde Drexler had a baby. He’s definitely a physical specimen, but he is not the same athlete that a young Jordan was. For all of James’ strength, he seldom finishes over players if they contest. Instead he puts it off the glass. Jordan dunked on EVERYONE, and had maybe the best athletic quickness the league has ever seen. He also had to deal with hand checking and much tougher man defense, where Lebron is allowed to travel and/or carry everytime he touches the ball WHILE simultaneously having all of Sterns minions sucking his dick at every available oppertunity. He also doesn’t have the physical toughness that Jordan, Bryant, Iverson, Isiah, etc… had/have. Once Lebrons age catches up with him his performance will drop off drastically. He is probably one of the top 5 athletes the NBA has seen, but he’s definitely not the best.

+1
This has been discussed over and over and over, basketball allows traveling period. Physical “toughness” isn’t an athletic attribute it’s mental imo. In terms of speed (NBA players voted on this and said he was the fastest player in the league.)explosiveness, size 6’8 or 9 265-70 ish pounds, strength he is a beast. Tell me what player is like LBJ in terms of physical gifts have there been better players sure better athletes Hell NO.
Oh and please name these more athletic players please.
they look pretty sound in that video- as in good wrestling, very good level changes, speed, etc.
Very solid work
Going to Renzo’s I’ve got to see GSP close up. In street clothes, in a Gi and rash gaurds.
still trained there , him and Danaher still work together, dude was a Brick then. This is 3 maybe 4 years ago
very lean- and very developed Id say he walked around - lean at say 190.
He looks hyuge in that Vid wow.

Uh, no. They’ve said he’s the fastest in the league POUND FOR POUND. Huge difference. I can name you five faster players off the top of my head. He’s also closer to 255, not 270. Dwight Howard’s about 275 and he’s quite a bit thicker than James while being taller. Hell, in terms of pure athleticism James White’s a better athlete, he’s just nowhere near the ball player. If you were to hold a combine and pick any player of the last 20 years in their primes [Jordan, Wilkins, et al were before this] that tested, speed, strength, leaping ability, and agility Corey Maggette would test out as the best athlete overall. The best athletic basketball player of the last 20 years is Vince Carter [he doesn’t have Maggette’s strength and probably wasn’t as fast baseline to baseline]. James is a freak to be sure, but there have been better athletes. He’s the face of the league right now and he’s allowed to display his athleticism at the expense of the rules to give him - and the league - a marketing advantage. So is Dwyane Wade. Now, that’s all I’m gonna say on thiss in Bosses thread. If you want to continue I’m game, but let’s start our own thread.
EDIT: Also, LBJ has a launch pad left leg but doesn’t jump nearly as well off of two. And, for all of his strength you’ll never see him go chest to chest with someone and crush it. He got that Dunk over Duncan 'cause Duncan didn’t jump, and I don’t want to hear about Damon Jones 'cause he’s at least half a foot shorter.
This thread ended at Corey Maggette dear GOD people watch some CURRENT NBA. A combine lmao.

If we’re talking about all time, I’d have to put Wilt in that list as well. They literally had to change the rules to slow him down.

This thread “ended” 'cause I know basketball and you watch from Japan.

I’m sorry, Wilt couldn’t compete with todays athetes. Yes I know he ran track at Kansas, but he was over 7 feet playing against 6’8" guys. He’d be a back-up today.
How did this turn into a NBA discussion??
