Greg: How Do You Train?

From there came the 80’s.

White washed jeans, fanny packs, hyper color, reebok pumps… What more could a guy ask for!?!

I transitioned from “Zack Morris” 80’s to neon 80’s… You know, the 80’s that never really existed but all of the 90’s/2000’s kids think the 80’s looked like.

Not a good look.

NEON TIP: be tan! Even the slightest lack of a tan is glaringly evident in neon

After the 80’s I was enamored with motorcycles! Long hair, beards, stomping boots, chains, tattoos. That stuff was bad ass. I dove fully into the biker life style for a while and went at it hard.

After the biker phase I was a bit lost. I traveled around and what amounts to a “Fashion Walk About” trying to find who I really was… Deep down inside, who is the gregron?

There was the Jersey Shore phase…

The CHP Officer phase…

The Middle School PE Teacher Phase…

The American Gladiator Phase…

The Scottish Golfer Phase…

The Sailor Phase…

The Perma Bulker (fat guy) Phase… AKA The Dark Ages

Then came the JT inspired “suit and tie” era…

I loved this. Look good, feel good, do good (except at English)
This is what you hope to achieve one day. Stay at it, keep your head down, wear 6 outfits a day and you too can achieve this look… IF you have the fashion GENETICS for this sort of thing.

Maybe I just did it wrong. I mean, I do have “Greg” infront of my screen name.

Maybe I am late here but as the most fashionably accomplished poster on this site I have to give my unsolicited advice.

First you guys are all doing it wrong. Dressing yourself fullbody is a waste. Sure you maye end up with an outfit, but the only way to be dapper to the EXTREME is to do wardrobe splits. There is just no way you can give your shirt the proper attention if you are picking out your pants at the same time.

Before you take my words out of context understand that CLOTHING CATEGORY SPLITS are the way that the PRO stylists put together outfits. All of them. I know because the Nordstroms I go to have tons of them there and we are all besties.

The split that worked best for me is:

Shoes/Belt/Watch
Shirt/Socks/Pocket Square
Trousers
Jacket/accessories

Notice how Trousers get their own split. I also skipped Underwear in the split because you do underwear EVERYDAY.

Fact: There is no way you can do a fullbody outfit without neglecting your accessories. PERIOD.

No PRO puts together their outfit all at once. Find me a cover of GQ and I’ll show you an outfit put together peice by peice everytime.

Before this turns into every other thread about NATTY or NOT remember that just because someone used a stylelist doesnt mean you would look as good as them if you did so dont even bring it up.
I know you mentioned this in another thread how you split your belt/watch/shoe day into 2 days - one for brown leather, one for black leather. How did you know when your fashion sense was developed enough for that? I’m still using a reversible belt and a neutral steel-banded Seiko with every outfit, so I think I’m still in the “focus on the # of outfits noob stage” you talked about. Thanks in advance
If you are still wearing a reversible belt and Seiko after the first year of dressing yourself you just aren’t cut out for this.

My advice would be to invest in some onesies and get a new hobby.

Damn, gregron.

LOL

FYI I’ve gotten some nice belts to replace the reversible one. I think that’s good progress. You’re not as fashionable as you think you are. You’re at a men’s health level even though you think you’re at a GQ level

I guess it was just shocking seeing you in the afterhours Indigo camp pics on facebook. You wore those ridiculous corduroy pants. After all you talked yourself up here, we thought you’d look more fashionable. Even CT said your outfit needs work. Yeah yeah your iron was broken and was damaged originally in the Vietnam war who cares…

All I see is the blonde in that picture.

Without really stirring up shit, I think Greg already noted that he hadn’t worn corduroy pants in quite some time, and despite looking totally badass in skin tight snakeskins, he was out of practice for rocking the basic texture of cords with any degree of true swag.

Ha wow I actually believe you wore 6 outfits in a day now. Respect.

My Hawaii 5-O phase…

Corduroy pants are do out. Cut off corduroy shorts on the other hand…
