Greg: How Do You Train?

To get surgery and throw a football it’s 9 months, I couldn’t do ANY pressing for 1-2 months after it happened but it just gradually better. I hammer face pulls and pull aparts for lots of volume so I think where I’m at now is about the best it’s gonna get. As long as my elbow stays in tight to my body it feels pretty good
Did you get surgery? What other stuff are you doing besides the face pulls and pull aparts? Are you doing any banded internal/external rotations? What about floor/wall slides? YTWL’S?
chobbs wrote:
@gregron do you feel like you’re at least 90% the same now as you were pre surgery?
75-80% probably

No I didn’t get surgery, is a wall slide where you lean up against a wall put your arms out and push them out and up with your elbows and hands touching the wall? If so I’ve tried that and it just like rolls out of place. I so external rotation sometimes but I should definetely do them more.

Ya that’s a wall slide.

I prefer to do then lying flat on the floor. And only work in the ROM that allows my elbow and hand to stay on the floor. Nice a slow and it helps me.

If I was you I would start some YTWL’S. those are great for warming up the shoulder, getting blood flowing and loosening up. I dig em.

I’ll have to try em, shit it wouldn’t hurt any. Thanks

Ya man, give em a go and let me know what you think. I bet you’ll be surprised at how much harder they are than your think.

They really start to burn after a while.

I did a 3-4 mile run earlier in the day pushing the stroller to the park with my boy. Did the same run the day before. Extra leg work

Lying leg curl: 3x8-12 with pause and squeeze
90x12, 100x10, 90x12

Seated Leg curl: 5x8 with pause and squeeze
90 for all

Front Squat: work of 14-16, 12-10, 8-6 No rack available so I had to clean the weight up. Hammies were smoked
135x14, 185x12, 225x8

Leg Press: 3x10-12
3ppsx10, 4ppsx10,10 Feet together, really slow no lock out. Crazy pump

Leg Extension 3x10-12
60 pounds per side (plate loaded) for all. Constant tension, 2 second pause at the top.

Really good day. Legs were really pumped. Felt good. Nothing heavy today but a volume pump day.

Shoulders

Arnold Press: 3x12-16 drop
40x14, 50x12,12 drop 30x max

Lean Away Laterals: 3x10-12 run the rack

Something light. Sweet pump

SUPERSET: 3x10-14
Front Raise/Cable Upright Row

Pretty good shoulder day. I’m really loving doing these types of workouts again. So much fun.

I love hamburgers. Actually I love cheeseburgers, hamburgers are ok.

Not a great photo but an unpumped RDB snapshot.

Meh. Shoulda hit this after back day in some flattering lighting lol

Kinda washed out but yeah… Onwards and upwards from here.

Had a rushed legs day today but it was a really good workout. I haven’t back squatted in a while but felt like giving it a go today. Only had 25 minutes to lift so everything was back to back fast paced.

3x12 seated hammie curls

Back squats:
135x12,12
185x10
225x8
275x8
WORK
315x6
365x5,5

All these sets were back to back with the only rest being to change the weights.

After this was 3x8 box jumps. The video (hopefully it shows up) cut off mid set but you get the picture. No idea how high the box is.

Then finished off with tire flips with the 500 pound tire. Flipped it back and forth between my lifting partner and I for 5 minutes until I had to
Leave. Not sure how many flips we got in but it was tough at the end lol

Down n dirty quick workout. It was really good though.

Looks like the box jump video didn’t show. Lame

A little hit better back shot. Shoulders and back are slowly coming along.

I think I’m turning this into my workout lot now haha

Back is really thick top to bottom.

Thanks buddy, I’ve been working a lot at the MMC and holding the contraction .
I think it’s helping. I’ve been trying to take my arms out of it.

Sounds good to me! Nice work Greg, I admire your combination of size and athletic ability. I should start putting more of an emphasis on explosiveness in my training. I play college baseball but prefer lifting like a bb’er haha
