What exactly is Granola? I’ve been looking for some (I live in the UK) to try JMB’s cottage cheese receipe but can’t seem to find it anywhere. Where would I be likely to find it. Is it likely that in England it is referred to as something else, like with jam and jelly. Any help would be appreciated.
It is something like mueslix (spellinp ?).
Used here as a cereal.
Granola is cereal mixture of oats, nuts, dried fruit and other grains (like rye). Be aware that the toasted varieties are high in fat. Best to eat the raw kind which is not toasted in oil. You can make your own too, though I don’t have a recipe handy.
alpen is grannola hope that helps
Dale mentions Mueslix which is a US brand name. However, that’s based on “muesli” which is what granola is called in Europe. In fact, granola is a US adaptation of muesli. The Swiss make the most famous variety and it tends to be less sugary than the American version. I’ll bet UK stores have muesli in stock. If so, your problem is solved.
Thanks fellow t-maggers. We most definately do have muesli in England. Is Alpen the best, or does anyone else know of any good brands of muesli (in th UK that is)? Thanks.
there are lots of brands that can be bought at the supermarkets but your best bet would be to go to a health food shop such as GNC or Holland and barret (they have a sale on till the 12th of this month ) hope that helps.
