Lol at all the argument shit. a guy 5-6 inches taller than me, weighing about the same, hitting a 500 lbs raw squat would be pretty good. And yet you still felt the need to reiterate how he missed the 500 squat and he was wearing knee wraps? You’re doing the same shit we are!
I was pointing out shit that stood out in this thread to me…not necessarily relevant. I did find it funny how people were arguing about him squatting 500 when he put up a video squatting 452 or something…lolwut?

452 is not my max.Iwas done during a training, and if you saw, i had done 420x3 prior to it.Also, my wraps give me about 20 pounds, no more. And I cant get why you are so frustrated…

It seems that the raw 405 bench the 500 squat and the 600 deadlift are just the numbers everyone out there wants to have because they are the numbers that it seems like no one will laugh at. I grew up down the road from a serious gym and below parallel 500 squats weren’t ever a joke or insignificant even to guys squatting 6+ in a belt. I think everyone demands proof of 500lb squats because the majority of guys just can’t do them and it makes you feel better to prove that whatever guy can’t as well. It’s a shame because it removes some of the elation of getting your first 405 bench 500 squat or 600 deadlift to have people tell you they aren’t impressive even though they probably can’t do it themselves.
This is a good post. Someone who understands the iron game.

So really, how many guys south of 250lbs are squatting 500?
There are quite a few on this site, actually. They’re mostly in the powerlifting and training logs forums.

SMH…you didn’t comprehend what I said.

See my analysis of POWERLIFTERS and qualifying for Nationals. Just because SOME can do it, doesn’t mean it’s common…that’s my point.

Nice attempt but…

First, you REALLY need to get in a power cage. You almost missed that rack and going forward with the weight, alone, and you could have been in serious trouble.

Next, have a spotter unless you’re in the cage with the bars properly set!!!

Lastly, it does not look like your knee wraps are properly worn. You bend your knee way to casually as you’re approaching the bar. A properly worn knee wrap and you won’t be able to bend your leg under your own power - you will be stiff legged the whole way to the bar. If it’s not tight, it’s not helping you so either put it on right, or forget it.

And again, rack or spotter - seriously! If no rack, you’ll need at least two spotters for 500, preferably 3. You can’t get stronger if you’re hurt.

Haha I didn’t read everything. Whoops. But no, not common.

OP looks so frail with his skinny chicken legs. I have no idea how you can even handle 500 pounds on your back…I would never guess looking at you.

I noticed that too. OP was 2 inches away from a trip to the hospital.

I dont have access to a power cage, since in my town not even a SINGLE gym has one. The wraps I am wearing are pre-rolled as tight as they would get, they just suck. thank you for your concern

ur not thick enough to be accused of roids. I am just surprised by your strength because you don’t look the part to me. I am 2 inches shorter and a good 5-8 pounds heavier yet my max squat is 385x2 but no belt or wraps

sooo i looked at some of the posts and this seems to have turned out to be a 500lb squat is incredible thread. i don’t think it’s that big a deal, my raw squat is 705 in competition at a bw of 196. everyone i lift with from 180lbers to 250lbers squats over 500lbs now in competition, with less than a couple years or year of training. if you can’t hit 500 in a few years of training(i say training and not lifting because i think they can be separated) i think you are doing it wrong or making yourself believe you are training hard but you aren’t(this applies to most people, obviously i don’t expect a 130lb person to squat 500 in few years). just throwin that out there.

Haha no frustration dude, just a lot of confused-ness at this thread in general. The inability of most people to follow a simple line of logic is amusing and terrifying all at once (not meaning you).

And fwiw, I hope you hit a 500+ squat in the near future. I’ll never be someone to detract form someone else’s progress.

Seriously man, be careful. I handled an insurance case where a guy was paralyzed when his knee went out IN THE SMITH MACHINE. Either don’t back up as far out or definitely get some spotters. And, you can’t wrap your own knees tight enough. Try to get someone else to do it for you…assuming they know how or can follow instructions.

Just throwing it out there…but

No one said it was “incredible”.

As for not being a big deal…see the ADFPA qualifying totals for NATIONALS.

Your raw squat is 705? Drug free? If so, great squat. If not, then we can safely assume drugs have a little something to do with your “perspective”.

And finally, you (and I) are a powerlifter. We, and the people you know, train the squat as a competitive endeavor. This does not represent the average gym trainee. A legit, drug free, unequipped squat by the average guy trying to look good nekkid is a helluva squat. Period.
