Can’t wait to get out of a dorm and have my own equipment.
My gym has a room with two power racks and various barbells and two full plate towers, there’s chalk everywhere and hard rubber floors. No one bothers you for making noise, there’s DB’s up to 160 and every hammer strength machine you can think of.
The first few weeks I went there the guy let me in for free because he knew I was a student. During certain times there are these big mofos that work out there also.
The only way you could make my gym any better is with a monolift, and maybe heavier DB’s but fuck this gym is the bomb compared to the Y I trained at before, I don’t see myself finding something better.
For all you guys stuck in shitty gyms, make sure you look around cuz there’s always a diamond waiting somewhere.
My college’s gym is pretty decent… I go to an engineering school, so for the most part, so long as you don’t go during a team lift time, or during a peak hour it is pretty empty. Really small school (less than 2000 students), so the gym is rather small.
3 squat racks, 3 good benches, and two oly platforms. The Indianapolis Colts do their summer training camp on our campus, so I think they probably helped finance some of this.
I wish we had some bigger dumbbells, but never having to wait to squat, or deadlift is pretty awesome.
one last thing to add… we also have a GHR…
I didn’t even know what the heck it was (I’d never seen one in any of the commercial gyms I’ve trained in), until i watched a video of GHR’s posted here. Since then, my hamstrings have been rather sore.
I was doing DB rows with the 100s when a guy asked me if he could use them when I was finished. He did shoulder presses with them! Nice!

Thats badass, i cant wait to buy a house with a back yard.
Saw an older lady (mid 40’s) squat 4x10 with 185lbs the other day, she couldn’t have been more that 140lbs herself. She went just above parallel but she still floored me, twice as deep as most the guys I’ve seen.
Hernia surgery…that part sucked but I called the main man at my gym and he gladly suspended my membership until I heal. He was so cool, he told me to take all of the time I need to heal. Saved me my monthly dues. Nice guy…great gym. Thanks Andy Idaho Athletic, Nampa Id.
Saw a dude that must have been pushing 400lbs step out of the steam room and go right to the scale…oops…wait wrong thread…
Saw a dude doing dead lifts wearing Chuck Taylor’s! =D

to alongside our bitch and moan threads such as the legendry SRC thread, i propose this thread to tell of the awesome and cool things that we see at the gym.
last week, i had set the bar up for my working set of OHP, turned around to get a drink and and an old bloke who must have been 60+ was doing one handed deadlifts with impecable form! and today, a bloke was doing proper cleans going atg (i have to train in a faux-bodybuilder gym) [/quote]
Excellent idea my log haired friend.
Best part of my gym: Most of the people that make progress, and lift at night, go after 7pm and after 3pm on weekends. So when I go, I typically feel small.
There are a couple of older guys there intermittently that are strong as ox’s, and watching a dude in his 50s rip 455 like it is nothing is quite amazing to watch.
Everybody is pretty friendly. No dick heads really. Couple of sad stories, but no douche’s.

YEAH!
At the Powerhouse in West LA, yeaers ago, there was this really cute Thai chick working out. And with every rep she was moaning - moaning like she was getting hammered. I was with 2 other guys and all of us were erect. Dudes were just looking at each other shaking their heads. She wasn’t doing it on purpose - that was just the way she grunted when lifting.
Great equipment, used to have strongman attributes too. Plus a lot more of big guys than my last gym, got me more motivated. In my last gym I trained for a few years gaining 27lbs of muscle. I now train full time in this gym for about 12 months, went from 170lbs to 204lbs.

Well, it’s free. And there’s some wieghts. Prof. X, can I PM you about USAF ‘fitness centers’?
Chains, bands, oly platforms, sleds, 4 squat racks, no mirrors, 40 year old women doing 20+ kipling pullups, foam rollers, badass 50 year old former USSR Oly Coach, 170lb trainers with 500lb deadlifts. My gym. Oh yeah, fat bar.

And how is your progression?
My gym is great. There’s quite a tight-knite community and the guy who runs it is absolutely awesome
