Deadlifter at My Gym

In the 8 months that I’ve been attending my “gym” I’ve only ever seen ONE person do a deadlift.

I’ve never seen a squat. Ok, so there’s no rack or cage.

But it brought a smile to my face that there was at least one person doing it. Sure, it was with 45lbs (really) and a rounded back. But at least someone tried.

Does anyone else attend a McGym like this?

I personally can’t do them, nor squats which go above 0.5x my bodyweight since my knees don’t really work anymore. So frustrating to see that NO one is doing these two exercises.

It’s ramblings like this that make me appreciate my gym. Despite the limited space and equipment (only one powercage and not squat rack), it is usually utilized properly (for squats … deadlifts right outside the cage) by a good amount of the gym goers and they usually have decent form and weight.

It’s ok Magicpunch, it all gets better

Oh man, I have videos about this.

My gym is so sad there aren’t even Squat Rack Curlers there…because to curl in the rack you need to do at least the 45lb bar right? Well, doesn’t happen here.

I work out at a community house gym where 80% of the members are 50+ years of age. In the year I have been going to the gym I have only seen 2 people deadlift (one of which was a woman) and 1 squat. I do, hoewever see people squatting in the smith machine quite often. I will occasionally see the dreaded squat rack curler. Now all the college kids are getting back home for the summer so I guess it’s going to get more busy.

This works out great for me since the power rack is always availible and that’s where I spend 50% of my gym time.

I need to find a gym like you dudes. Isn’t it the saddest thing that I haven’t ever seen or stepped into an actual power cage, or a squat rack?

+1. I swear to God I went on vacation for a week and had to clean the cobwebs out of my rack when I got back. gg Golds.

I lift at Planet Fitness and people squat all the time some better than other. Deadlifts are a bit less common and usually if someone is doing them its always stiff leg deadlifts I’ve only seen one other person do conventional deadlifts.

I feel bad sometimes when I see a really tall person trying to do a back squat. I’m no expert so I don’t give advice but from what I’ve read I imagine they would have an easier time doing front squats. I just stay quiet though and let them continue with their partials.

Haha i work out at a 24, i WISH so many people werent in the racks. 90% of them are doing whatever particular exercise they are doing with terrible form. That is not an exaggeration either.

Welcome to England. I’ve witnessed only one guy doing a decent deadlift at the gym nearest me, and he was American!

Everyone at my gym Squats & Deadlifts on a regular basis.

Workout at home?

I have seen a grand total of four other people at my gym Deadlift, one was a woman. Two of them do impressive weight, too bad I haven’t seen the guy who worked up to 580lbs in reps around the gym lately.

there has been an increase of people who deadlift at my gym…the internet is reaching my area

Hahahaha, awesome!

To be honest,Ive never seen anybody Deadlift at my gym either. Plenty of Squats but not Deadlifts. Odd.

i must go to an odd commercial gym, i seen an old nerdy looking guy deadlift 4 plates at my gym, i regularly see deadlifts nothing impressive though a 25kg a side at most except that old guy.

Internet reaching your area is both a blessing and a curse…people become smarter for a while, but then everyone just goes full on retarded. Or maybe the net just finally makes it to the least educated and it seems that way!

I’ve been extremely lucky to have trained around some decent lifters. At my gym you regularly see serious lifting like 300+kg squats and deads. Dumbells go up to 150lbs’ and are used! When I first walked into the place I was like ‘holy shit’ and to say I felt small was an under statement!

The place is a club and you can only become a member if someone vouches for you, strictly no strangers or fucking idiots!

We have a free piss-up at least twice a year and this is where you really see the big fellas come into their own…

Hmmmm. My gym is a university gym, and while there are guys there who bench and curl 5 days in a row, there are a decent number who deadlift. A few of them have awful technique, but there is one 110kg guy there who’s pulled 265 (I think) in competition, a 79 kg guy with about a 140kg comp bench, and a couple of other 75ish kg guys being trained by my powerlifter workmate.

They put me to shame for the most part, but it’s motivating as hell too.

Planet fitness has a power rack or squat rack? All of the ones I’ve seen in Texas and up here don’t have anything but a smith machine…
