Good Shoes for Squats?

Werk-san makes some cheap oly shoes that are quality if you want to go that route.

It really depends on what kind of squats that you are doing though. I do a closer stance squat in my oly lifting shoes and i go down where my rear is about 6" off the ground.

I havent tried powerlifting squats at all so i can’t comment about weightlifting shoes for those types of squats.

Wrestling Shoes, Chucks, vibram five fingers, and nike frees

You can try the knockoffs, but I’d just go with the real thing. A pair of Chucks will last forever. Check online. You shouldn’t have much trouble finding a cheap pair.

Haha Chucks are one of the cheapest ‘name brand’ shoes there are, the fact that knock offs exist is pretty funny[/quote]

There are a few companies that make knockoff chucks to appeal to the punk crowd who don’t want shoes made form sweat shops.

Seconded with the Vibram Five Fingers… I love mine for squats and deads.

Nike Dunks are my favorite squatting shoes.

I found an old pair of warn down high top PLAID chucks in the closet of my parent’s house and thought “sweet now i dont have to buy any!”. I know I look like a ‘tard in the gym but they still fit and theirs no holes yet! … Their my cuttin’ grass shoes too…

what’s a good one for a guy with wide feet? I tried on some chucks last weekend because I know I need to get a better shoe for lifting but they are too damn narrow for my feet. I have wide, flat feet.

Adidas Sambas. If you need a reference…Wendler wears 'em.

Mine.

As given to me by Coach. I think you can get these like second hand for 50 bucks or something like that.

EDIT: Sorry, they`re called Powerfirms

Yep, work boots are good or anything that is similar to them.

I already posted that one of my former ex strength coach made us use them insted of any flat shoes. I was squatting 465 then…

What is the advantage of having a heal to achieve maximum weights single ply or raw?

If you are in the UK and need shoes

They are pretty good, incompressible sole, great grip and good ankle support. You can find them at most good sports retailers for £15, which is a bit less than Adidistars.

HiTec squash shoes

If your gym allows it…

NO SHOES.

probably set a PR your first time going shoeless.

Those are pretty cool. Heel doesn’t look too steep.

I use adidas wrestling shoes for all my lifting except squats…then I bust out the Safe Contenders. I have also tried Crain’s squat boots which are real nice, but they are narrow and the heel was a little too high for my tastes. The Safe’s are wider and have less heel.
